It would be crazy to say that Walker is defensively solid, but he's so quick and is such a threat offensively that in many ways, one of the biggest defensive plus' to his game is the fear he instills in an opposing wide player. A left back is going to have serious seconds thoughts about getting too sucked into an attack or committing himself to attacks too often, for the knowledge that if he's caught out of position, the space he's left is going to be completely gobbled up on him.

I mean, who would you rather face, not as a player, but as a manager. Walker, who you know can most likely beat anyone on his side of the field for pace, or say, Dier, who yes is solid defensively, much more so than Kyle, but he's not a player who your LB is going to be overly concerned about exploiting the space he leaves when he takes a wander up field.

I wouldn't want Walker on the field necessarily when protecting a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes to go, but he easily is the best option for who you'd want starting out, especially against a team with strong and quick wide players.

I think the threat of him offensively is what makes him a good defender.

I am a big fan of Walker and think he will make us a lot of money when he goes.
But since his injury he hasn't played at all well
either defensively or in attacking mode.
His pace allows him to recover when he's out of position
but when he gets back he is not composed by any means.
When he goes forward he hesitates and slows the momentum
and misses the opportunity to cross.
Needs a regular wing forward to play with.
Hopefully him and Lamela can work something out.

"Such a threat offensively" Really?

For me, Walker's only real threat is pushing opposing FB's back and creating space for Lamela.

That's a threat. Unless in your use of "attacking threat" the term insinuates an individual player's ability to score or directly set-up goals. We're talking about the same thing. My whole post outlined this. Honestly I think people just nitpick online for the sake of saying something, anything.

Thought it was pretty clear what I meant.

You actually think Yedlin is better than Walker :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:???

So what if his pace gets him out of trouble? At least it works.

I actually think Walker is that bad a footballer that surely Yedlin would be a better option.

As someone mentioned earlier Corluka was a brilliant full back for us. We miss him almost as much as modric and VDV
