I think this is exactly the problem IMODid TA sign any legally binding contract at the time agreeing he will join soton of they want him. Wonder if that's the problem

Did TA sign any legally binding contract at the time agreeing he will join soton of they want him. Wonder if that's the problem
Must be related to Dean.Andrew Gaffney @GaffneyVLC 12m12 minutes ago
Last one: if Atletico had a deadline to cancel Southampton's right to buy, surely Soton's right to buy clause has expired as well?
I think it's time for bed, Andrew....

I think you missed the key part, Mr P!This snippet probably summarizes it the best:
Even if Southampton can prove selling Alderweireld to Spurs would breach terms of last season's loan agreement, the Belgian will still have the final say in where he ends up.
Saints head of football development Les Reed is planning to fly to Madrid this week to resolve the situation.
If Alderweireld insists he wants a switch to Spurs, the south coast club could use the clause as leverage to receive a lucrative compensation package from Atletico.

However, sources close to the deal insist Alderweireld is still virtually certain of signing for Spurs.
Alderweireld was due in London in the next 48 hours to discuss personal terms before undergoing a medical.
Tottenham want to offer Alderweireld a five-year deal worth £50,000-per-week, but the Saints' threat of legal action could delay the move.
Privately, Alderweireld is said to prefer a switch to White Hart Lane, despite his successful spell at Southampton last season.
It would mean the media were 1 week behind on this one, which I think JJ has eluded to in the past. It also makes more sense of his "Toby or not Toby #thatisthequestion" tweet last week.
The bit that doesn't make sense to me though is JJ said "we were pretty resolute on why it wasnt", which suggests that we pulled out for whatever the "commercial reasons" were and I don't see why we would end negotiations because of a dispute between Madrid and Southampton.
I think you missed the key part, Mr P!
Just moving this to the player thread:
They can't be a week behind as Levy has been in Madrid THIS weekend.
So the reports we have agreed a deal come out while Levy is in Madrid, but he's actually there for Suarez. I don't think so.He could be in Madrid this weekend for suarez
I'm not 100% sure he would want us. I think he probably would, can't be arsed to list all the reasons why we're a bigger and better club than Southampton but they obviously play in our favour.
However he would already be familiar with Saints; the players, the town, the fans etc etc so he might feel more comfortable there and have a feeling of loyalty towards them.
Also, what if it comes down to money? There's not a doubt in my mind that we're way more able to offer him more money than Southampton but it depends on willingness. They seem desperate to sign him with him being so good for them last year, I also get the impression that they really don't want him to end up with us more than anything. What if they're that desperate that they sanction stupid wages to persuade him to join and we don't because we don't think he's worth it?
I'm not as confident with this deal as others and more than anything I think this legal thing shouldn't be underestimated as it could prove to be a right pain in the arse and drag on for a while.
I'm not so sure about this one
They seem desperate to sign him? I can't recall many times hearing about Levy himself travelling for talks.I'm not 100% sure he would want us. I think he probably would, can't be arsed to list all the reasons why we're a bigger and better club than Southampton but they obviously play in our favour.

Then it must be a different reason that JJ is talking about, as he mentioned it a week ago or they are a week behind, but Levy went back this week to see if the issue could be resolved and deal resurrected.Just moving this to the player thread:
