Based on Kristofs tweet it seems like all is good for a deal to go ahead with us and Atletico. Then it's just down to Southampton and Atletico to sort out their legal issues afterwards. I can't imagine the legal fees and compensation if it comes to that being massive so It shouldn't affect any deal we have with them. It seems more like Southampton throwing their toys out of the pram rather than having any real case to get Alderweireld in on a legal issue.
I'm concerned that AM might up their asking price and try to squeeze us to pay the compensation (obviously Levy will hate this). Even if this isn't the case the whole thing might be delayed until they reach an agreement with Southampton on the compensation

Soton might take out an injunction that TA will not be allowed to train/play for Spurs until matter is resolved.

That's definitely a possibility. I imagine it would rankle with Levy but I can't imagine it would be a large enough sum to cause the deal to collapse because of it. It'll probably be around the same amount as the fee Atletico were meant to pay Southampton anyway.

They can't do that, we'll just pull out the deal innit and they will be left with the far inferior deal Soton have on the table.

Tom Collomoose who's definitely well connected has said we're in talks and Levy is in Spain, as has Gary Jacob of the Times.

Deals are complicated, it involves satisfying three parties and things can change in an instant. But all I'm saying is that we would of sounded out his interest before opening this can of worms.

And its logical mate, he'd of signed for Southampton way before now if he was desperate to be joining them - he clearly isn't because he has better options. I'm sure he would if he didn't.
In that case I'll accept that he's in Spain. Just to be some form of common knowledge but no fact attached to it but I'll take their word for it.

I do think you make a good point that he would've signed for them if he wanted to. Southampton would've paid the fee (lower than what we have to) which would've activated the release clause meaning Madrid have no say in the matter and then if Toby really wanted to join them he would've signed the dotted line. Maybe I'm just worrying for no reason but this legal action shit has cautioned me in my confidence. I think it's just because we've seen things of similar Spursy shit that only seems to ever happen to us. Thanks for the reassurance Pinky :)

No problems mate :)

I'd be very surprised if we don't sign him now, but nothing is certain yet obviously.

True, if they had any sense they wouldn't do that. They should be happy with the fact they're making an extra £5m from us. Even with the compensation they'll make more money than selling to Southampton

Like I've said in the post above, they would be very stupid if they were to do this but I do worry what would happen if they did, think it would definitely and understandably piss Levy off. Even if it doesn't mean the deal completely collapses I worry how much longer it might drag out negotiations for

Southampton are truly sour here. Must be hard to be reminded that they indeed are nowhere near our level as a club. They are not as attractive an option as us, though I suspect they believe they are.

How dare anyone choose us over them

We wanna piss off SCBC? Drop the whole thing to make them feel like they won and swoop in for the kill and take Schneiderlin.
Alternatively, we could break their hearts and sign their captain, leader, legend Jose Fonte, get all the players to form a neat circle around him, then bukkake the shit out of him.

That'll teach 'em to fuck with the super spurs

In all seriousness I find it quite sad how we go about many of our transfer dealings

It is a darwinian survival of the fittest model rather than the gentlemans agreement. But we have been fucked about too. Berba and willian just 2 examples.

It does make the window that bit more interesting though.
