even if dier or bentaleb get the ball to dembele or chadli all they've done it pass it backwards anyway. think Dier has had a good half personally, eriksen been inventive but not in the game enough. We lack players that want to attack space, players. only really walker giving the man in possession an option to pass the ball progressively with his runs. other just watching and taking the easy option of passing square and moving 2-3 yards, rinse repeat

Fantastic first 15, turgid 30. I'm not sure what Bentaleb really contributes. He's not great in the final third, he's pretty god awful in the defensive third, he's supposed to be the guy who keeps possession ticking over, switching the ball, dragging markers about...but he just can't pass a football today (or on several occasions last year).

I think we've done pretty well so far considering that we are playing away at Old Trafford. Bentaleb has been the only real disappointment so far for me, Walker was not at fault for the goal at all. I'd like to see Alli and Lamela for Bentaleb and Dembélé early in the 2nd half if things doesn't pick up for us.

No they didn't, they questioned the validity of buying a 29yo when we have a 23yo with very similar traits. I didn't read anyone, ever, saying Cabaye was anything other than a very good player.

half time worst half I have ever seen from Benteleb he is still on the sodding beach, needs a kick up the arse during the break. Ref is his usual useless self, absolute knob end.

All the worry over Dier and its Bentaleb thats the problem! Throws his weight around all summer asking for a big pay rise and then plays like this!

If i was poch id sub him to make a point. Dont take the piss.

That aside, not too bad really. But please buy some pace.

It isn't as simple as saying it isn't because they are young and attributing to something else. Composure and mentailty (should) come with age/experience so its a factor at the very least.

Anyway, what's gone is gone, bentaleb will have to learn from that and learn quickly as we simply cannot afford unforced errors like that.

We showed in the first 15 that we will be a team this season and will do well imo with all the other players competing for positions, desperate for chances to impress.

I'm frustrated, and quite frankly fucking upset, by that goal, but feel very confident about this season.

I was sceptical but poch actually did get the selection right by the looks of things. The goal upset our rhythm, we have to put it out of our minds and come out like we did the first half and just play.

Bit harsh to blame the goal on poor defending, given that the poor pass set up a quick counter by United.

Lot's of positives to take from the game so far. I think we can sneak a draw if we start the second half like we did in the first. This United defence looks shaky and we need to take advantage of that. Stick Lamela on, please.

difference between us and ManUSA was we make a mistake they capitalise, but the other way round and we dont.

We started really well, pressing high, but the goal knocked us and we lost the initiative

Eriksen needs to start finding those pockets, but after 15 mins or so Carrick and MS started to close out the space.

Give it 15 mins and id bring Alli and Lamela on for Eriksen and Bentaleb.

id agree with most that but i'd haul the ineffective dembele off if we still 1 down, offers nothing going forwards
