The only way I could see Sissoko end up here would be Newcastle accepting Tom Carrol as part of the payment. Say 22 million plus Tom or something.

Thats not ambition thats stupidity. Slimani is 28 and had his best season last year in the Superleague with 27 goals, the season before he scored 12. Top scorer was Jonas a 32 YO Brazilian. We signed the top scorer in the Eredevisie for 17M and he did it at 22 and thats still a risk. Im sure the Portuguese league is even more miss with strikers moving abroad than then Dutch league.

Mario Jardel anyone

Seem to lack any forward planning and any ambition. Considering the time limit, not enough was done soon enough and there's really no excuse for that....

This years Bake Off contestants were shite at making ginger bread.

They pay more money in wages because they turn over 50% more than us because, like it or not, they are bigger clubs than us.
A player faced with earning £60,000 a week or £90,000 a week (or more) will obviously go for the higher wage. We gave Willian a shot last year and Batshuyai a go this year but we aren't big enough to compete with Chelsea.
Levy didn't come up with some bizarre conspiracy plan to ensure we didn't sign them, they just chose the better job.

As far as selling Chadli and Mason are concerned we bought in Wanyama, Janssen, and GKN as bench options whilst promoting Onomah over Mason, not to mention Son has had a season's experience of the Prem now.
If Chadli and Mason were world beaters then fair enough but everyone seemed to agree last season they were not of the required quality so now the manager has agreed with that I don't see how we are being particularly weakened.

Chadli and Mason just did not seem up for it last season. I would rather pin my hope's on the unknown. Kane came good, and Alli last season. Time for another gem to shine..

As ever both sides of the debate are being over-dramatic or over-defensive.

We have signed some players in good positions, we are light in other positions. Our squad isn't weaker and it isn't considerably stronger.

It doesn't mean that the club is a complete failure lacking ambition that is designed purely to upset people who love transfers. It doesn't mean that Levy has done everything right and is beyond reproach.

Those who love a transfer more than any actual football seem to be being more irritatingly childish at the moment but it's a very close run thing.

Can we all just try and be a bit more moderate/less stupid?

Happy clappers are out in full force I see.

Doesn't mean you're less of a fan if you criticise this window, it's okay... You're allowed to.

We are light in key positions and haven't capitalised on achieving CL football.
Spot on.doesn't make you less of a fan just because your frustrated with what always seems like inbility to push on, dont think anyone expects 100m worth of signings just with the extra CL cash and extra revenue for finishing 3rd surely we could have found a gem or 2 without waiting to the last minute.

If true, it seems the £38m bid of Max Meyer was the big money deal we were hoping to secure. Shame we had to sell everyone before finding out if there was any way it would happen.

£30m for Sissoko would have been ridiculous. £20m and Tom Carroll maybe but no more.

Isco can go **** himself, the little ****

I think we have done ok this window and as others have said we have strengthened in certain positions we needed to in the squad, got rid of deadwood and we are backing our young players. I guess some people are freaking out simply because other clubs have spent an absolute fortune rather than us not doing good business.
