Fuck them and their arrogance. They've got that wanker in charge there, it's only a matter of time before things go tits up again at United imo. They are having a nice little run of form right now, but Mourinho will have another breakdown as soon as things stop going his way. They've got a couple of really good players, but the backbone of the side is distinctly average.

Ha, that's a great idea!

In my previous job we used to run an alternative fantasy football league which was basically putting team names from a Welsh non-league division in a hat, and just handing out cash prizes to the top three at the end of the season.

Go Croesyrceiliog FC!
Do you mean Croesyceiliog? I used to play for them :p

From that Redcafe thread!

"Has Vertonghen been that impressive the last couple of seasons? Alderweirald has been impressive but I would class Vertonghen in the good/average category. Based on this year I'd have Jones in there instead of him. Bailly too, if he returns and maintains his previous high level.

I suppose Herrera and Wanyama is a matter of opinion, as both have been equally impressive this season. I do think Herrera offers more on the ball though so not sure I'd have/need a destroyer in Wanyama beside Carrick.

I'm trying to shoehorn Alli in also. Does he even suit a CM role? He's playing more as a second striker recently.

------------ De Gea
Valencia Alderweirald Jones Rose
--------------Carrick
----------Alli ----- Pogba
Mkhitaryan -------------- Martial
------------ Ibrahimovic

------------------------------------------------------

So...... 8 Utd players and 3 Spurs. And that's 'cos he 'shoehorned' Alli in. Ok mate. And Jones? That post just gave me bad AIDS.

Cant remember if they wanted the stadium, or just didnt want anyone getting it and moving closer to them.
They were worried they would lose fans.
Initially they wanted the original proposal (ie stadium reduced to ~17k with top tier removed) and were bidding on that until all the faff about retaining the running track and legacy bollocks.
They were then quite receptive to Spurs winning it as we have a different market for tickets, however they didn't want west ham as they were concerned that they would flood their market with cheap/£1/free ticketas, and that would eat into their market share.

In fairness one of their posters totally called him out on it.

Can you share what he said?

That line up is a joke... I still like Carrick as a player and can't believe Maureen ignored him for so long, but he wouldn't get near a combined 11.

Valencia's decent but he's not at the level that Walker is.

Jones... he's not even the best CB at Utd!

To be fair, De Gea is probably the only keeper in the league who [edit] could get in ahead of Hugo.

De Gea wouldn't get ahead of Hugo, that is a myth trotted out by United fans. Valencia is very average and a poor defender.

Yep.

Apparently when he was asked what it was like to be the best goalkeeper in the league he said 'I don't know, ask Hugo Lloris.'
What a guy.

Wasn't there also a pic of one of Rooney's kids in a Lloris goalkeeper kit?

Not that I don't believe you, or that he said this but when and where did he say this?

This is from one poster called RedSky:
Jones ahead of Vertonghen? fecking ell...
To which the other poster continued, so RedSky gave a more detailed post:
Well it is laughable. You're saying a fella who has just started to play regularly for us is better than the best CB partnership in the League (for the last 2 seasons). Has it crossed your mind that Jones might simply be having a purple patch? One player has shown consistency over the last 2 seasons, the other has shown consistency over 8/9 games. I remember not so long ago everyone was claiming Smalling was the best CB in the Premier League and now look at him. You've not even mentioned him.

15/16 & 16/17 (PL only)

Vertonghen
4305 minutes
48 apps
48 starts
17 clean sheets
42 goals conceded

Jones
1284 minutes
19 apps
15 starts
5 clean sheets
12 goals conceded

Cmon, the sensible choice is always going to be Vertonghen. Jones might well come good but so far it's way too early to include him in a team like that, for all we know he might get an injury again and breakdown for the next 3/4 months like he has done for pretty much his entire United career so far (let's hope not).

It's why I like that forum. For one thing it collects a lot of fans from every football club, not just United, so you can get a decent range of opinions and knowledge .

Then there's the fact that while there are biased fans (like on any forum) there's still objectively decent supporters like that guy, who support their club, but aren't blind to everything else.

De Gea has been at fault for many goals Utd have conceded this season and cost them points. I can't think of a single error Lloris has made this season which has lead to us conceding.
