I am looking at the spuds team. How did they manage to assemble such a formidable side? Where were we when it happened?

Trying to compare their team to ours. Not easy to be objective but something tells me they have been doing something right of late.

Goal Hugo vs Petre
Walker vs Bellerin tie
Rose vs Nacho tie
Alderweireld vs Kos: tie
Vertoghen vs Mustafi
Xhaka vs Wanyama : tie
Dembele vs Ramsey/Elneny/Chamberlain
Dele vs Özil :tie
Erickson vs Theo
Son vs Sanchez : gunners win
Kane vs Welbeck

Managers: jury is out

Class: Arsenal win by a wide margin
History: Arsenal win by a wide margin

Future: ???

They thump our squad in many different positions in my opinion. Like Ian Wright said though it may be painful to say it, I am jealous of some of their players.

Where the Gooner has not put tie or gunners win means he concedes we have a better player in that position. But would any of us swap Walker, Rose, Toby, Wanyama or Dele for their players in the same position. I think not. The only one I'd take from them is Sanchez.

You don't see our fans making player-by-player comparisons with other squads anymore, which IMO says all you need to know.

Taht last picture is so disturbing

Whenever I read other fans' comments after yet another excellent victory and some are literally only beginning to realise we're actually quite good after months of denial, I keep picturing certain memes in my head....

Ooh so salty...

And then, for some reason, certain comments make me think

I think it's because it's how I picture them when they're typing their shit.

Sosig.

I didn't rate Spurs to finish even in top 4 this season. With some good managers came to the league you would expect from them to fall down little bit. But they had even better season than last year.Pep,Mourinho and Wenger all flopped this year.
------------
Stability. They stuck by their manager and believed in what he was trying to accomplish. Credit to Levy for doing that. It's also a huge advantage for a manager when you have a group of players willing to play well for each other and have a good chemistry off the pitch. It's unfortunate that at Arsenal there doesn't seem to be that kind of camaraderie among our players. It's quite clear the training ground and dressing room seem clique-ish. Doesn't really give an advantage to the manager.
-----------
This is most likely/hopefully spurs golden years, and it's likely they'll have nothing to show for it other than a few top 4 "trophies"... If they can't win anything now and they start falling off in coming seasons, it's hard to see them come back to this level...
-----------
They're over achieving at present. That's rubbish about now being their golden years imo..........they seem ambitious but they do have a quite a bit of catching up to do on the $$$ front to compete at the very top.
-----------
That won't take long. New stadium, brilliant young football team that all seem to be pulling in the same direction.

The way they are running that club at the moment is showing just how badly we're running ours. They've been progressively getting better and producing or finding absolute top class players for the last few years now.

They have very strong leadership from the top down - when you have that, you can be a club that goes places
-----------
When was the last time we were 4 points off the top in April? Says a lot about Arsenal unfortunately...

They're very hard on themselves aren't they? Arsenal are one of the best run clubs around, and I suspect they've been a bit of a model to follow for Levy. Their problem is that they've plateaued at a level that won't enable them to compete with Chelsea or City (in general), and their manager has lost his ability to put together a decent team.

Not sure what that daft fucker is on about with the 'golden years' remark. The new stadium, the training ground, the whole ethos of the club has moved to the next level. I think we'll be one of 5 or 6 teams consistently competing for the top for many years.

Debate on Red Cafe about Dele Alli
-----------------
Pogba was the talk of world football at 20 years old. Making Alli out to be ahead of the Pogba curb at the same age is ridiculous.
Alli is Fowler, Collymore or Ian Wright. Top names that are only top names in the bubble that is the Premiership. Blood and thunder and all box play.

Pogba is a Zidane with one season scoring over 10 goals in his career. An Iniesta type. The game runs through him that can't be explained through stats.

He's the world class player that is lauded at Barca or Madrid while the English league bow at the feet of David Silva or KDB.
That's how big his signing is. Pogba v Alli is Neymar v Hazard. There's simply a level between excellent and elite.
-------------------
Dele Alli is on his way to become a real star but soon he will probabaly end up in the same position as Modric and Bale. His club doesn't match his level of talent.

Tottenham reminds me of the car manufacturer Opel. You get quality for a decent price but if you want prestige and extra luxury you choose one of the big three. Spurs is a perfect platform for a young talent but not the final destination if you want to end up in the absolute top.

I can see Dele Alli move to a bigger club in a season or two. Probably at the same time as Pochettino move on.
--------------------
Anyone else think Alli could be a legitimate target for us? I think we need more home grown players.
---------------------
United wont get him for anything short of Pogba money now especially from that prick Levy
---------------------
Our English scouts needs a kick up their arse for letting this one slip. Him about single handedly ripping us a new one when we played MK Dons should be evidence enough.
--------------------
Exactly my thinking. Unbelievable how we didn't sign him immediately after the game. It was clear as day he was the best player on the pitch. I'm guessing even Spurs signed him on the back of that.

Five f*cking million. You can't buy Bebe with that.
-------------------
No doubt he is a good player, but I wonder if he would be as good at another team. Look how well Southampton played under Pochettino. So well that Liverpool and us bought their best players, but they didn't turn out so great.

The manager is obviously the star of that Spurs team.
--------------------
Thank God Liverpool fecked this transfer up so badly.
--------------------
Best young midfielder in the world ATM
--------------------
He's Madrid bound imo. Summer after World Cup he's going to a bigger club.
---------------------
Really very jealous that spurs have him. He is already fantastic and will become one of the best in the world aged 25.
---------------------
All aboard the HYPE TRAIN! CHOO CHOO!

He's had a fantastic season, buts let's not jump the gun just yet. A young guy like him consistency is usually the issue, we had the problem with Sterling. If he can keep it up then hes got a bright future.
Staying at Spurs for the next 2 seasons at least is in his interests.
---------------------
Thing with Delle is, he doesn't even look like he's maximising his talent at the moment. At times you feel like he's playing within himself.

The way to truly judge how good he is if he was playing for a proper big club with pressure to perform and where he is at a club where title wins are imperative and he is expected to win CLs. Playing for Spurs is easy.
----------------------
Nevermind england's best young midfielder, best midfielder fullstop in the prem at the moment.

How we laughed when he was compared to Pogba, oops.
---------------------
I just think we use the phrase "Real or Barca will come calling in the summer" too much. Coutinho? Real or Barca will come calling. Hazard? Real or Barca will come calling.

No, they won't. Coutinho is inconsistent, Hazard is having his comeback season after being diabolical last year and as for Alli. He's great, doing really well, but being at Spurs is perfect for him at the moment. Lets not forget Spurs aren't some chumps wanting to get in the CL anymore, they're a top side in a top league competing for titles.
----------------------
£100 million would make Levy think..even if the bid was from United
----------------------
Coming to us would be a step down for him at the moment. He's only going to leave for a better team.
----------------------
Playing for a Dortmund or Spurs is easier than playing for United, Madrid etc.
----------------------
He's probably England's best player, let alone best young midfielder. Not saying much, mind.
----------------------
As many league goals as Ibrahimovic, mental. Ibra is by far our top scorer yet Alli isn't even theirs.
---------------------
He's superb. Would walk into every side in the league.
---------------------
I can understand why Spurs fans call him better than Pogba tbf.
---------------------
There is no reason why Pogba can't play the role Ali plays for Spurs. Let's give Pog another season at least, I have full faith that he will end up being better than Ali.
----------------------
Alli is on 16 goals and 5 assists in the PL.
Add to that the FA Cup and CL and Alli is on 19 goals and 6 assists.
-----------------------
That's crazy good. We can't make a direct comparison to Pogba though since Alli plays with more freedom. Spurs are just better than we are all round in all honesty

It's funny how we all used to say how our team didn't have any stars. Now that same team has stars like Kane, Alli, Alderweireld, Dembele, Lloris, maybe even Eriksen, Son, Wanyama, Rose, and Vertonghen. Basically the whole team!

No idea why they're comparing Pogba to Dele though. Pogba's more of a Dembele type for them, just not as good.

I'd venture to suggest that fans of clubs like Man Utd/arsenal/Liverpool start realising that this spurs is no longer the spurs of 5/10/20 years ago.
We are no longer a 'one season wonder' team, nor are we a talent pool for for the so called 'glamour' clubs of the Premier League to cherry pick from. And we are now achieving and self generating a platform where our players would more than likely be thinking 'here is the place to achieve things'.

The so called 'top4' clubs of old need to understand that their aura that use to have the majority of teams beaten before they'd even kicked a ball against them is gone.

It's us those teams fear now. And that's something money can't buy.

Jesus, this is the one that really sticks out for me, they paid a world record fee, and are hoping he can one day be better than a £5m signing from MK Dons

It was up for debate at the start of the season if Pogba was actually better than Dele. I don't think it's even a debate anymore. Dele is younger and better.

They are different players but I've never seen Pogba have a truly great game, and never seen him perform to even a very good level against a good side. He has good games against poor teams usually and goes missing against anyone's better.
