As usual not heard of any of these players before so don't care.

Think we will buy 1 or two players. Have no idea who or if they'll be any good.

Really just want to see us winning games and hopefully a trophy.

I dont want us signing players for the sake of it... However when the PL winners and teams all competing for a spot in the CL positions are actively strengthening their teams. I have to question our vision as the other 5 teams want to compete and give themselves every chance at success.

Our stance/dithering is truly baffling. Like you say we dont even have to use the TV money just use the money from player sales to reinvest in making the squad stronger.

Sorry but has the transfer window closed yet? The others are spending big because they NEED to, if you're genuinely happy at the thought of spending £50m on Ross Barkley then you're following the wrong team. ;)

Did Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovich strengthen Utd. last season? They scraped into CL by the back door I know, but they weren't really very good. My theory is that big signings are a double bladed sword which can increase footballing ability but weaken team mentality. Overall, I think we're doing equally well on both fronts which is the key to our success.

I think Poch will wait until the US trip is over before acting. He'll want to give the kids a chance to prove their worth or why bother taking them. If he feels KWP needs another year of development I'm sure we will sign someone.

Is our squad stronger or weaker than last year? We also have injuries and Deli banned for three games in CL. Are our youth players going to make our squad stronger than last years squad? Not significantly. Whilst I would love a marquee signing or two the wages are madness and will disrupt our current tight nit squad. But we need to add quality to the squad to ensure top four, a reasonable CL run and maybe win a cup. Our 1st eighteen are not good enough to deliver. If we have to wait till later in the window so be it. But strengthen we must. Also all this shit that the others have had to spend silly money to catch up is just wishful thinking on our part. Chelsea have strengthened!! Who are they trying to catch up with?

It would be great to see KWP return from the U20s WC and be first team ready. Nothing in the squad (with the exception of someone buying Sissoko for 20m) would make me happier.

However, IMO (and I know it's early days, but the transfer window is a finite period), he does not quite appear ready to be playing 15+ PL games and a number of cup games at the level we require. So, sadly, and I say that because of the Chelsea Bakayoko situation, we probably need to buy a more first team ready RB. Sucks, but true.

I've doubted Poch in the past. When we didn't sign a 'proper' DM but moved Dier into the role I thought he'd lost the plot. Not so. Dier was outstanding. When Bentaleb got binned, many (not me incidentally), thought we'd fucked up again, but how pivotal has Dembele been in Bentaleb's absence? I certainly agree that the squad looks thin, but I have no idea how far the development players have come on. Maybe this year is Josh Onomah's year - it certainly worked for Harry Winks last season. Maybe KWP is ready for his baptism. All I know for certain is that Poch has made some cracking decisions in the past couple of seasons that on the face of it looked like mistakes. I think we'll bring a couple in but I'll remind myself that we almost won the League with no back up striker in 15/16 when I thought we would struggle to get into the Europa League.

Surely this Wednesday will determine whether we sign him or not?
Given the fact Nice play Ajax in the CL, which could cup tie him.

Would both blades be double-edged as well? Perhaps a little unwieldy but they might be effective.

I implore you to read the first sentence..... I wont even validate the Barkley comment.

They did win 2 trophies in the season they signed those players WITH a new manager in his 1st season at the helm.

I do believe Poch wants to give the youth a chance, but I honestly don't think the US trip is make or break. We always take a few youth on tour. It fills out the quotient, gives them time with the first team, and indicates that they are "close." But I'm sure Poch already knows whether or not we need another player.

In my opinion, KWP is not ready. He has good instincts in attack, but in defense he's undersized and still makes a lot of mistakes. He also lacks the pace to make up for those mistakes (like Walker had). The size thing can be overcome, and with time he'll become a smarter defensive player, but would anyone here trust him against anyone but a Championship team in the league cup?

They finished 1 place higher in the League and won the FA Cup the previous year which was effectively Van Gaal's first season. They spent over 100m + wages on the 3 players I mentioned (Ibra on a 'free') and I don't think they did any better for it.

RICARDO: "IT WAS A GOOD TEST"

Lateral highlighted supporters' support and assumed that he wants to "make life difficult for the coach"

After two years of loan to Nice , From France, Ricardo has been one of the highlights of the blue and white pre-season, having even been considered the best on the field this Sunday, against Vitória de Guimarães (2-0). In the aftermath of the game, the versatile player spoke in a "step forward" in the preparation of the team and acknowledged that Sérgio Conceição has passed "confidence" to the squad.

Positive play
"It was a good test for us. It was the first time we played with the support of our supporters and this is important. It was another step forward in preparation, to start the championship well. "

The pre-season
" I think it has gone well, We have worked well, strong.

We have been prepared in the best way and I am one that is preparing to earn his space and make life difficult for the coach. " The impressions about Sérgio Conceição
" They are positive. The coach wants intensity and aggressiveness in the right direction and that the team plays and shows the quality it has. It has given confidence and this has been important. "

Your first sentence contradicts the rest of your statement, you do realise that don't you?

No i did say i dont want us signing players for the sake of it. That is supporters who just want a signing.

I do however go on to state that our rivals have strengthened. even the team who won the title..... Many a supporter during the season past saw that there were areas where we needed to improve the squad... Not the 1st 11 but the squad.

If you feel we good with what we have and can win a trophy and seriously compete for the title this season then perhaps you need to evaluate the team you wish to support.
