I think his comments were misinterpreted.

I don't. Neither does Ally Gold, who was there. But cool

Poch's get out of jail free card is he was misinterpreted. More likely it was mind games, possibly with the player, possibly with the press

The original quotes were mis-interpreted. I think the point Poch was trying to make was that we had options, one was KWP, but he wasn't the only one, and probably wouldn't be ready to be the main right back if Trippier was out for a decent length of time.

He was trying to lift the pressure on him. Go find the actual, they're very hard to clearly decipher. But the above makes more sense to me than what the reports all went with as the story.

Is Kyle Walker-Peters ready to start against Newcastle if needed?
"He's very young. It's true that to think and to give the big responsibility like Kieran, it's too much today for him. He's a player that needs to work with us and maybe start to play in different games but we cannot think that, in the case of Kieran's weeks away from the team, only he can replace him. I think we are working, but we were working before that happened and try to find the solutions in different positions on the pitch."

It's vague. At best it's open to interpretation, probably purposefully.

He certainly says he's not ready, whatever his reasons were for saying it, and that we shouldn't be relying on him yet. But you're right, he doesn't say outright no, and if anything re-reading it feels more of a subtle comment to Levy. "Don't be getting any ideas, mate, we still need a RB, whatever we end up doing at Newcastle."

The big responsibility given to Trips is to be no.1, KWP ain't ready for that. But next sentence says he will start/play other games. Then if Trippier is out, he's not the only replacement.

Let's remember that if we are playing 3 at the back then that takes a lot of the defensive responsibility away from KWP. It would be a different story if playing a back 4. If we go with 4 at the back I would expect poch to start dier in the RB slot. Either way this is Newcastle and we shouldn't fear any of our squad against them. Chelsea next week is the issue

Funny cos poch said if a back 4 kwp would play. Back 5 would mean sissoko. I agree back 4 puts more defensive responsibility on him.

i was surprised when i heard that too but listening to the interview that's not actually what he said -

from 14:05. he seems to say sissoko if it's a back three but leaves it open for both formations with kwp. again, i guess it's down to interpretation.

Yeah, again, seems pretty clear that the quotes have been relayed poorly by the press. He outlines two player who could replace Trippier; KWP in a back 3 or 4, and Sissoko as a wing back in a back 3.

How do they cock up the quotes so badly?
