I think Poch was saying that KWP isn't the only player who can replace Trippier if he's out for weeks.

not sure about that.. think he meant he hasn't got the experience....
"To give him a great responsibility, I think it’s too much for him."

if he'd been out on loan last season that might be different.

Maybe Poch is playing it clever here. Saying he's not playing when in fact he will do. Just keeping the pressure off him, keeping Newcastle guessing as to how we are to line up and also to ensure they don't target him.

I was thinking that when he said it. The pressure of getting your first senior start in the first game of the season is enough, he doesn't need an experienced manager like Benitez planning ways to isolate him

Surprising, thought it'd be 3-4-2-1 either way as it gives KWP the extra cover. Although from what we saw against Juve he was very solid defensively, but slightly tentative going forward.

Yes, bears saying again that he did not push on offensively, but got stuck in against Dybala, Costa, and Asamoah

He could be completely bluffing, why give Newcastle our formation and line up before they need to know? Wouldn't be surprised at all if it's 3421 with KWP on the right. Wing back role with Dier as rcb should work. If not then start Sissoko there and hope for the best.

I think thats down to be caught out of position for the Roma game

Poch needs to tell him he needs to carry on bombing forward

Ally's articles back in the day were the main reason I signed up to this site.

It actually took years for me to discover this site beyond the front page, I think my first venture beyond front page was the summer we signed Davids. Now I don't even look at the front page, but I would if Ally posted articles to it that's for sure.

Where's Phil Ifil when we need him.

still don't understand why he failed in such a mysterious way, even worse than ricketts

All attitude. I actually knew a guy who coached Ifil at youth level, SENRAB type thing before Ifil was part of our academy. Said Ifil had bags of ability and could've been the real deal but once he made his debut felt he had a divine right to play, and was too impatient to wait for his opportunity to kept pushing for loans/ transfers, which is what he got.

Poch defo said no way on KWP last time out and now he may well play which suggests something must have changed.

Those comments might have made KWP thing "fuck, this is my chance and I'm not taking it, time to sort it out" and then go have a storming week in training to make Pochettino notice. We know how Mauricio loves a good trainer after all.
