Before this game , we knew that it was always going to be difficult to win the title this season.

With the various factors, mentioned so many times before, going against us, our realistic target was having CL for next season. Despite the loss today, we are still on target for that.

Let’s just despair today and then pick up and look forward to the two upcoming London derbies.
I don't know why so many fan's keep refering to us and the title we were and are never going to win it, as I have said previously you can't lose 6/7 games and expect to be in a title race only the fact that we have had no draws has kept us in it otherwise we would probably be 5/6th.

You can be pissed off and not call the team legends, it's so fucking lazy. We played poorly and Burnley were the better team on the day, it doesn't make us legends. Its just a tired line people put out whenever we lose a single game.

I would not use the word legends but we are certainly not winners... Really happens to often..

Today Son and Eriksen did not turn up.. Also this side to side patient football does not work against strong defensive teams.

There is an inability for us to get over the line which crops up at regular intervals. Win and we are 2pts from the top not much incentive there then. It's defining us as not having that winners mentality, well not yet anyway. Whatever the "soothsayers" say on here, you won't stop Spurs supporters dreaming. Well we are just about still in the dream.

Llorente coming on was the right move. It was who was taken off for him. Foyth and Sissoko both should have gotten hooked then

We were missing Sanchez as well as Dier and I suspect if fullyfit they would have been on as at least subs. Sissoko was ineffective as Burnley bypass the middle by play long naps all the time. Sissoko is strong in the middle third of the pitch but far less use at either end. Still he has had a lot of football for us and been an important player for us.

Just wanted to say, I hope to not see blames on Poch here. He made a tactical gamble, and he lost his roll here. Had we found the winner ourselves, he’d be praised. For me, our players didn’t look up for it. Many a player got bullied around, and Eriksen (God knows I love ‘I’m) was painfully weak on the winner.

Furthermore, it’s my birthday so you cannot disagree with me ☺️
Happy birthday, chap. My sympathies for the crap birthday present Spurs just gave you (and all of us).

If only more teams can turn up such performance like fucking Burnley against the top sides and not have bent over so easily and got fucked.

Always the same story. We get ourselves to a point where we can literally become proper title challengers and we fuck it up.

We were crap today. We seemed far too patient and scared to put a cross or pass in.

It was just crap all round.

I think we are performing at our capacity given the resources and squad we have available, these results happen to every single team in the prem (City lost to Newcastle/Palace). So yes I agree with you that we don't have a squad that is likely to win the title this season but I get pissed off when people call this group of lads legends when they've performed miracles this season to be where we are. We should be 6th given the situation we find ourselves in and yet we are closer to the top2 than we are 4th currently and will be regardless of any result this weekend.

The dream was never on realistically we are a top four team and nothing else

I don't really care so much in regards to the title race. I never felt like we would win the title with us having to go to Anfield and The Etihad, but I was just trying to enjoy the ride regardless.

I'l be more than happy if we just first and foremost secure our top 4 spot and also go further in the CL.

Yeah - I don't use that term, but regardless, it's poor form to go off on a rant just because another member of the forum might have said something you don't like. Especially after a defeat.

It's one of the worst things about this 'community'. Would be better served if we could have rational dialogue without the bullying language - and when it comes from a Moderator or Administrator then people tend to keep their head down and just accept it.

Funny thing is, I don't even agree with the post that caused A&C to respond like that - but I take greater offence at his reply to that poster.

Like I said, it wasn't particularly helpful.

anyone who watched the Burnley game at Wembley earlier in the season would have known we’d have problems today.

Poch really bigged up the importance of this game, so now we’ve lost we can’t underestimate how bad that is.

Burnley match up incredibly well against us. Dyche seems to have Pochs number last few seasons.

Fuck me some of you. Stop with the bottle jobs shit.

We had a tough, similar game scheduled against Newcastle, we won it.

We had another similar game against Leicester, we won it.

We beat Fulham in the last minute.

We are anything but ‘bottle jobs’ this year. You would think we were ten points clear at the top and have been reeled back in. The narrative is bullshit. Yes we lost, yes we were poor, but nothing had been bottled.

We played a tough, gritty, anti football team who will always take points off the better footballing sides. It happens. We’ve lost seven games this season, and yet we are still within five points of the top which shows you how well we have recovered from all our setbacks.

Do you think City fans refer to their team as bottle jobs when they lose to Palace? Or when United were held by Burnley were their fans saying they were bottle jobs?

It’s fuckig irritating, the amount of people that say the press are mean and nasty and unfair and then play right into their hands with comments like that. It’s pathetic.

I guarantee you that if those respective clubs had not had bucket loads of trophies between in the last decade, that's exactly what they would be saying.

They would be able to counter those arguments by pointing to their trophy cabinets. What can we point to?

I dno man, I don't view it as moderator bullying a poster, I see A&C as a spurs fan in a thread and they only moderate if somebody breaks the rules, as-long as you're not abusing mods over moderation issues then I think they're pretty fair game and the original poster could easily tell A&C to fuck off based on the debate being about the result. I've seen many a BSODL give him shit and live to tell the tale.

Agree with this legends is probably too strong a term but yes certainly we as a club miss out on opportunities more often than we gain but that's our club and that's what we do it will never change so onwards we go.

On the whole I agree he has the talent, but I can't deny that some of his performances have left me questioning his ability. Worrying that when opposition teams set out to target him they often come out on top.

I agree on some of his recent performances. It was clear that Burnley had targetted our right side of defence - in particular Foyth and Aurier.

He wasn’t handling the robust play very well and I felt that Poch should have replaced him earlier - maybe at half time. Anyway it’s a learning curve for him.
