For anyone who doesn't know what he's on about:

“Oh the whistle goes
The cockerel crows and now we’re in the game
Its up to you, you Lillywhites to play the Tottenham way

There’s many teams, of many towns
And some are great and small
But the famous Tottenham Hotspur are the greatest of them all!

Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala la”

I'm very much in favour of McNamara's Band being restored to the South Stand's songbook so to speak. Its a higher tempo than a lot of our current chants which makes it easier to keep going for a longer period, and it also means it sounds more celebratory than COYS, When the Spurs go Marching In (our slow version) and From The Lane.

We could even add a second verse building on @thebenjamin idea above, along the lines of:
"His name is Pochettino, he's the leader of the band;
He's made the mighty Lilywhites the best team in the land.

With Dele in the middle, and Harry Kane up top;
We'll take on Europe's finest and we'll beat the fucking lot.

Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala la"

It would be amazing

Back in the early 1980's you'd get

Knees up mother brown
It's a grand old team to play for
We'll take more care of you, Archibald, Archibald
Burkinshaw's Blue & White army
Ossie's going to Wembley
He's only a poor little yiddo
Tiptoe through the paxton
what do you want to make those eyes at me for
We will follow the Tottenham
In your *insert team here, usually Liverpool* slums

Plus the usuals, come on you spurs, when the Spurs go marching on etc etc

I've certainly forgotten a few too. There were loads.

Plus there are a few that aren't PC any more such as the runway song and the Charlie Nicholas song.

we even once upon a time used to sing "walk on"

With Harry Kane at White Hart Lane, he's scoring for the fans
Dele Alli, Heung Min Son, Rosy, Winks and Jan

The one that's sung loudest and gets people on their feet isn't even about Spurs. Says it all really.

100% agree with this. You need a song that's catchy and celebratory - look at Man Utd singing the Ole/Waterfall song because it has melody first and foremost!

I was already standing though so was irrelevant. Why don't we just sing a song about us that doesn't require anything other than singing?
"Stay in your seats if you love Tottenham!
Stay in your seats if you love Tottenham!
Stay in your seats if you love Tottenham!
Stay in your seats if you love Tottenham!"

Quite. It reminds me of the Newcastle chant "shoes off if you love the Toon".

Maybe "Wallets out if you love Tottenham" or "stay silent if you love Tottenham" would be more apt.

Perhaps we should bring out the UK wrestling classic of:

"Shoes off if you hate Arsenal!"

"Thing I love most" is our best song, IMO. It's also the one that we, on occasion, can sing for quite a long time before we get bored.

To the tune of Call Me Maybe:

Hey I just met you
And this is crazy
Here’s my number
So call me maybe

lol, I’d never bastardise Carly Rae.

Or one for Jan, nicking the old Nicola Berti tune.

My name is Jan Vertoghen, I come from Belgium, play for a team in London, Tottenham!

When I'm eating moules-frites, all the people I meet, sing hey! gorgeous! What's your name? My.. name... is... etc
I found this funny at first, but then I found myself humming it. Now I think it's a winner!

We have many great songs, but sadly they ain't used as much as I'd like at home games.

Grand old team really should get at least one cameo each home game. I also miss the guy with the drum who did the yids beat or the Tottenham chant occasionally to kill moments where songs weren't sung. Anyone know why the club stopped this? Bring back the drummer boy and grand old team on a regular game basis I say

I have such fond memories of McNamara’s Band. When I went to Ibiza about 25 years ago, there were around 10 of us and I was the only Spurs supporter. There were a mixture of gooners, hammers and a couple that didn’t like football. I honestly don’t know how I survived that holiday. Anyway, I taught them all McNamara’s Band (I didn’t tell them it was a Spurs song and the lyrics I sang were the pre-Spurs lyrics so they couldn’t catch on) and i’d sing the verses loudly and they would all join in with the lalalala bit. It sounded pretty awesome to be honest and by the end of the 2 weeks we must’ve got hundreds of locals to sing the tune at beaches, bars and even clubs.

When I did karaoke, I sang the whole of McNamara’s Band before he put the song I was supposed to sing on. He purposely delayed it because the whole bar was singing along to the song. They caught on during the second verse and by the second chorus, the whole bar were lalalala’ing it. I very much doubt they knew it was a Spurs song but by Jove we spread the Spurs love in Ibiza for those 2 weeks!

So yeah, that’s my suggestion. I’ll stand on the halfway line with a tannoy and sing the verses while 60k fans sing lalalala. You’re welcome. I’m happy to do it on the slopes if they won’t let me on the pitch....

I like the nostalgia of the Son song, but I agree there is so much to work with here given his cult status.

After his successful avoidance of military service, I’m surprised we don’t sing “he’s from Seoul but he’a not a soldier” for one.
Etc

To the Quo song...

"He's in yid army now,
Heung min son
He's in yid army now"

It's an easy structure to add as several verses
