Why? Cause Levy won't pay what they want? It's up to Levy to agree a deal they are happy with or move on to something else. They even sold Junior and Camarasa just now so might not even need the money as much atm.

That's not what has been suggested, though.

By all means, all ITK says that we have agreed what everyone wants, but for a third time they have come back and changed their minds/terms.

Betis are basically doing the transfer equivalent of keeping us on the hook, like a girl who sends you photos of her flaps but keeps cancelling dates at the last minute.

But is it really though? They needed to sell Lo Celso to pay for Fekir, but now they've sold two players, with one of them covering Fekir entirely! I'm not sure why everyone thinks he needs to move, unless it's a tactical issue where Fekir and glc can't play together..

Maybe wages. Maybe they know now is a great time to sell as his stock is sky high. Anything can happen in a year. Maybe he cements himself as one of the best midfielders in Spain, or maybe he gets a bad injury, or his form falls off a cliff. He could even become disgruntled and cause dressing room unrest.
It's a risky game to keep an unhappy player when your not a rich club.

They are not a rich club, mate.

In recent years they’ve kept themselves in La Liga but only a short while ago in Seville it was a running gag for a number of years that they had a hole in the corner of their stadium, because they couldn’t afford to finish the job.

They clearly sense an opportunity with Lo Celso. We’re all freaking out because we’re Spurs fans but this is what negotiations with a fixed deadline are always like.

That's the game. We've done that ourselves many times. If someone posted that Levy had done this to Betis they would get 50 Funnies, 37 Winners, 14 Likes and a Friendly or two.

He'd get thug life meme replies and intricately edited GIFS with his face superimposed on them.

Fair. I don't think any of us are saying that it's not the game, just nobody likes to be the one being played.

Do we seriously not have a plan B or C in terms of other options? This is turning into an absolute embarrassing shit show that makes everyone look bad.

It's amazing to me how a bunch of blokes on here who I assume most are not working for Fortune 500 companies all of sudden are astute businessmen/businesswomen who have incredible knowledge about an industry they know nothing about from experience.

I am a huge believer that all experience isn't good experience and dumb people can be put in charge, but Levy has an incredible track record of running the club well. Yes, it doesn't embody the club's to dare is to do mentality, but it's realistic in a Premier League that is a different world than most of us have grown up watching.

Just let them get to the deadline and if it passes and this is it - sure you have a right to be upset.

Very condescending about a lot of people who are totally unknown to you.

I won't pass judgement until our transfer window has closed and we either have or haven't completed the Lo Celso deal.

If we have: fantastic, happy days, well done Tottenham!

If we haven't, then I won't be able to reach any conclusion other than that Spurs didn't do enough to make the deal happen rather than it being Betis' fault. Barcelona already have done business with them this window and Cardiff look like they're just about to do the same, so if we end up being the club who couldn't make a deal happen with them I think it will say more about the offer(s) we made rather than any underhand shenanigans by Betis.
