For 5 years he has been saying "I won't comment on rumours", yet they still insist on asking him these speculative questions. I think I'd lose my rag occasionally too in that situation. In yesterdays presser, he says it 3 times, and yet is then immediately asked about another one.

.

Yes , what surprises me is how Poch goes thru a long explanation every time . Why not just a quick 'No comment on rumours , next question please ' response . This would quicken up what can be a dull watch .

He a grown man and earns the big buck £8m+ a year!
If he cants handle a few press idiots without going all Maureen, he's got problems!
Sorry but this is just nonsense. So just cause hes paid 8m he should resistant to the same boring questions? He's a human being and no matter what's going on in your bank account you're going to feel pressure or irritations. Just cause you've got 8m in your account you don't just suddenly relax up. He's competitive, he's driven and he's also asked to do much more than just coach a team, hes responsible for so much more, all of these things have an effect on how you behave.

I hate these statements in which just cause someone earns money they should be able to handle pressure better.

Because the press would take that as a point of sensitivity and double down on the questions.

"oh he doesn't want to talk about that, somethings going on, let's find a story"

I used to think he rambled to just confuse them and bore them so they'd have no sensationalist line. But I'm not sure as recently he's started to say more than I wish he would.

But I'd hate to deal with the UK press too, no matter what you say they'll try spin it

So after reading the BBC article it would seem that Poch has had a change of heart regarding winning a trophy even if that means it’s the Carabao cup. Interesting as he previously always stated that he’s not really bothered unless it’s the premier league or champions league. Personally I welcome this change of mindset as I’m desperate for us to get this monkey off our back.

We were a bit thin in previous years so he had to concentrate on getting top 4. With the new signings, a refreshed core of the team, and two to three very talented young players about to burst onto the scene, maybe he feels he has enough depth now to attack on all fronts.

Don't agree with this ross . There is no story behind 'No discussion on rumours' , its just a quicker way to say what he always says .

It would make the presser much easier to watch if he did this .

Reports coming from Duncan castles that Poch wanted 2 x fullbacks, 2 x cm and 1 x am.

...Also Ian Mcgarry claiming that Dybala deal fell through as he wanted £9m pa net which was £173k pw net which is more than Kane.

He’s stating that our reps looked at each other and were shocked at the wages.

Surely this can’t be the case as you’d like to think that we had spoken to his reps before agreeing a fee and that they know what we pay.
It was in the Independent, the Sun and probably other newspapers/websites that Dybala and Spurs had agreed personal terms and that the transfer was stuck on third party image and agent rights.

I think Poch handles things a lot better than some coaches but its obvious that when things behind closed doors are not all well he gets quite tetchy. I think he either needs to realise he's going to be pressed on these things and should just limit his answer (instead of rambling) or the press officer should intervene if the same question comes up more than once.

People, in the press and among the fans, frequently mistake Pochettino's irritation and frustration with the press for irritation and frustration with the club management.

He used to have a few good-humoured ways to tell the press to move on and ask something else. Now he has a number of increasingly-lengthy and irritable ways to tell them to fuck off. As I wrote a week or two ago, when the "I'm just the coach" bollocks was running around the headlines, he's not the cute, cuddly interviewee he was five years ago. He still doesn't walk out of press conferences, but that may come soon.

Mauricio Pochettino assures Tottenham squad he will still pick players whose futures are uncertain

Mauricio Pochettino has assured his Tottenham squad that he will not make selection decisions based on their contract situations for the rest of this month.

Three of his leading players - Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen - have entered the final year of their contracts, while Danny Rose has two years remaining and was put on the transfer-list this summer.

With European clubs able to buy players until the end of the month, the futures of Eriksen and Rose remain uncertain, but Pochettino has promised his squad he will not be affected by contract issues.

While Alderweireld and Rose played 90 minutes in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa last weekend, Pochettino left Vertonghen and Eriksen out of his starting XI over concerns about their fitness.

Although the Spurs boss is mindful of the need to prepare for life without Eriksen, he is thought to have left him out as a precaution after he underwent groin surgery in June. Vertonghen, meanwhile, was dropped amid concerns it would be a risk to start him due to his fitness levels.
