I don't understand this...

Both back in full training, so should be on the bench.

To be fair the level we’re currently playing at they obviously need another 6 months or so to reach them. FFS his fitness bullshit does my head in half the time when half of the team barely move and look like they have no clue what system they are supposed to be playing in.

What I don't understand is why he doesn't use common sense to get out of them questions, I think we'd all feel better about it if when he's asked about January he just turned around and said some bollocks about not looking beyond the next game, focusing, trusting the players he has who got to the CL final WITHOUT saying we're not fucking signing anyone again :banghead:

I understand the desire to make everyone feel trusted but telling our players we're not looking to strengthen and push on is just as damaging to the ones who actually want to stay here!

My biggest issue with Pochettino is what I see present day in the Spurs team. Looking back on his best XI, which was probably Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dembele, Wanyama, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane, only 4 were signed by Poch, the other 7 were already at the club.

My issue is, has he been a good manager or did he just get a little bit lucky? I'm pretty sure it's not luck but when we look at the best team during his tenure, 6 years in and the fact that 7 of those guys were not identified nor have they been sufficiently replaced to date when required does come as a concern.

He's had over £400m to spend on incomings if you consider the Lo Celso deal to be a permanent one, does anyone really see £400m worth of improvements in the team at present? That would be my biggest concern to date, he hasn't proved he can do it with something regarded as genuinely his team.

He wanted players like Berahino, Schneiderlin etc and turned down Maddison for peanuts. He wasn't interested in Lo Celso for £20m but was a year later at £50m etc. He hasn't exactly got a top drawer record when it comes to wise investments so it comes as no surprise to me that when the old guard start to age, the team looks a little frail.

It's not just about the first eleven though is it? A lot of that money has been spent on improving the squad as a whole. And every club has players that don't work out. If you look through the list of players we've signed during his time how many have been flops? Janssen, N'Koudou, N'jie, Wimmer, Aurier, Fazio, Stambouli? Any others? That's around 95M worth of players and not all of them were his picks. Now how much would we make if we were to sell Moura, or Son? We made £25M just out of Trippier so I'm sure it would cover the £95M that we spent on those players (some of which were sold for a profit anyway).

The guys had to work under a net zero transfer policy for most of his tenure, often not getting his first choice players and he's getting knocked for it? That's really harsh.

Jesus Christ what do you lot want from him in the midst of a bad run.

“Yeah, my players are mostly shit, even the new ones who cost a fuck tonne of money, so I’m buying a whole new team in January and this lot can be bought out of the bank of my Rolls at Barnet Spires car boot sale on January 13th”.

You big babies.

The reason people are reacting like this is because he said a few weeks ago that a lot of the issues would be resolved in January's transfer window. If he's now saying that he wants players to stay it's more mixed messages. You can't blame people for being a bit confused.

so wait - 2 weeks ago we needed January to sort the squad out. now, we don’t need to invest in January.

bloody hell he is confusing.

Imagine how the players feel!

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say he’s probably the same with them as he is in the press.

We is fooooked

He's always coming out with contradictory bollocks in the press. One week he'll say something the next he'll say exactly the opposite. It's a big part of the problem. There's no clarity on what the strategy is.

If he's trying to motivate the team then why say the squad was nowhere near good enough a few weeks ago?

I don't have a clue what his genuine views are on things anymore and I doubt the players do either.

But he implied as much about 3 times already this season.

"January is going to be a good opportunity to fix this situation." For example.

He doesn't have a consistent public opinion on anything anymore.

One interview he's here for the next 5 years, the next he's discussing the possibility of other opportunities. It's the same with transfers. He's happy with the squad this week then the next week he's not happy with it. One week it's "impossible to compete", the next it's "no reason we can't go for the title" or something along those lines.

At least if you're going to lie to protect the players then lie consistently.

I think he'd be far better off if he just avoided those questions and stated we're all working togther to improve on the pitch.

That's were we judged sort of thing.

Chelsea have spent an absolute fortune on their youth set up and it seemingly is only starting to provide a proper return now.
Having said that, I don’t think Abraham, Mount, RLC, the Welsh centre half with the fro and co will be good enough for where they want to be in the future. They’ll all make decent prem players but not elite. Their best talent by a mile is Hudson-Odoi.

We need to improve the scouting undoubtedly. We used to sign highly sought after youngsters, what’s happened to that?

Personally I really like look of Loftus-Cheek and Abraham has started to settle now and I think they’ll be more than good enough to be mainstays in their team for years to come.

This ban has really benefited them for me as allows them to bed youngsters like this in rather than their usual mercenaries.

Their squad still looks stronger than ours too as they have far more strength in depth.

Mount jury is still out on although he is a talent and has potential and as said Hudson-Odei looks absolute mustard, surprised he didn’t get their number 10 shirt but reckon he’ll get it next summer and they just gave it to Willian to keep him happy in the short term whilst they still need him.

The more and more this happens I just think the players aren't necessarily unhappy, just confused and frustrated.

I doubt some of them know if he trusts them or not, if they're a part of his plans or not. Then if we're gonna go off what he spouts in the press then I bet they don't know if we are expected to win the title or just get the top 4. They also probably have no clue what his career intentions are because of the amount of utter drivel he comes out with publicly. I think Pochettino is actually the one causing a lot of this uncertainty he's claiming exists.

Is he trying to keep everything sweet before the right offer comes in? Can’t see OGS lasting much longer, poch would fit the bill up there. Levy and poch are meant to have a good relationship, I’m sure they know how this all works, just keeping it real for now.

Of course my mind is running away from me but this whole situation is odd. We can all agree that something ain’t right so we are going to speculate. In my opinion he’s gone, it’s just about timing. I can’t see anyway out of this maze.

Is he second guessing the question? Seems he had an answer prepared for it with the speed of his answer. Trying to keep the players onside and motivated I'm assuming

Or... since we are so shit anyway we wouldn't notice if he plays a couple of players lacking fitness. Might as well chuck them on.
