or Man Utd seem to be improving a bitIf Leicester or Chelsea have a awful spell, it'd probably Arsenal who'll get Top 4. They're in turmoil, but haven't totally forgotten how to occasionally win a football match.
If we could focus on the bottom 4 for just a second, looking at the next round of fixtures there's a very good chance we'll be sitting in 17th after those games, scary prospect.
Id expect Everton to beat Norwich at Goodison, Villa are very capable of overturning Toon by a couple of goals at Villa Park and we're more than capable of collapsing away to the Hammers in their cup final.
Yeah totally get that aswell (if we win), just can't see where our next league win is coming from, still clinging onto hope that he turns it around.Agreed - it is perfectly plausible. It is also possible that a win takes us into the top half (actually level with Sheff Utd on 5th - as we are the early kick-off). Don't get me wrong - we are awful at the moment but the table is still close up to top4 at the moment. Win the next two and things look very different and momentum builds.

I still think Chelsea will have a wobble this season. Their young players may get worn down by the Xmas period, etc, etc. Whether we can pick it up and get back into the mix is another thing.I don't think top 4 has gone completely, as others have said there is scope for other teams to still drop plenty of points. However, the key thing is that any chance of top 4 relies on us turning ourselves around sooner rather than later, and unfortunately it doesn't look like there's much chance of that.
Anybody expecting a resurgence should listen to what the manager is saying.
In the summer we had the 'painful rebuild' comment. Since then we have had numerous comments about needing time......Time to get going after a late start to the pre-season (due to being in the CL final)......Time to recover from 'different agendas', ,time for new players to integrate etc. After Sheff. Utd. he has said, not for the first time. that we are rebuilding and it will take time.
Poch is telling us: don't expect us to win anything any time soon, don't expect us to climb back up the league, don't expect us to be top four. If I'm getting this message then surely the players must be; so with the manager not expecting them to do anything what must be the effect on them? Ever heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy?
Just write this season off and hope that we don't get into a relegation dogfight, because we probably haven't got the character to survive it.
Really if we want a good chance for a solid rebuild as Pochettino talks about we need to give the likes of Gazzaniga, Foyth, Sanchez, Tanganga, Sessegnon, Skipp, Winks, Ndombele, Dele, Lo Celso, hopefully Parrott, possibly Clarke if he comes back in January etc as much first team matchday squad time as possible without it risking a slippery slope further south.
I'm not saying start every one of them, that would be reckless. I'm just saying that the 11/ 12 players highlighted have long term futures with us if they are allowed to prove themselves. Using this season as a platform to integrate them fully will see us knowing we don't have to take a step many risks bedding them in next season and will give them the chance to adjust to the pace or at worst show they really ain't up to it. It's so frustrating that we went out of the Carabao Cup early doors.

If it wasn't for that turn around at Villa and somehow scraping a point at City we'd be in turmoil.

It's relegation form, it's relegation performances and whilst some are scoffing at it, relegation could be a genuine possibility if we don't pull our fingers out.
IF?
we can all play that game
if Rose had been more alert, or Sanchez 2 foot higher, or Mike Dean had given a penalty we might have got a point or even beat Newcastle
if Rose never acted stupidly v Arsenal we would have gone in 2-0 at halftime, and might have won, or the ref that gives pushing a player in the back as a foul in the area then Kane gets a chance to make it 3-2
if VAR had used the same lines they used for Salah's goal on Sunday, we would have been 2-0 up away to Leicester
if Lloris punches the ball clear then no 1 knows the Brighton score
if Rose had made an attempt to try and make a header then Watford might not have taken the lead
if Toby had got out of 1st gear he might have been there to help Aurier v Liverpool
if Gomes hadn't broken his foot, the ref would have stayed with just a yellow, and with XI men we might have held on
or do the if's only count to make it even more negative for you
you've brought a lot more IFS to the table.IF?
