I’d like us to give tanganga a chance, skipp and parrott too.

I don’t rate foyth personally, would rather tanganga had minutes.

We have talent, they need to be given time to develop

Across the next two windows i feel there are 6-7 spots up for grabs. A lot depends on the four who are running down their contracts and whether we can get any cash for them, but for January:

RB:
- Loan out KWP to a PL club
+ Bring in Atal

CB:
+ Bring in a young talent who has PL experience. I think Diop has potential if Tanganga won't make it.

CM:
- Let Wanyama go or loan out
+ Bring in true DM

AM:
- Let Eriksen go
+ Bring in a Bernardo type of player

CF:
- Not crucial if Parrott is as good as we hope, but
I really liked Antonio yesterday. A real handful and works hard. Someone who could put in a shift.

I don't get why players like Rice, Diop and Antonio are being mentioned (especially Rice, who seems to be on many wishlists). West Ham won't sell to us, and would want way more from us than any other club.

not to write someone off on one game but Diop was the worst player on the pitch yesterday

that was a 0/10 performance

Was speaking to some Benfica fans yesterday regarding Ruben Dias.

They say he's a very good defender but can be overly aggressive sometimes. Sounds like a Mourinho defender to me!

Also the Portuguese NT typically don't start or use young defenders. Dias has been the exception to this.

"Bring in a Bernardo type of player" - Lo Celso reminds me a lot of Bernardo Silva from what I've seen of him so far.

Antonio bullied Sanchez when he came on BUT he’s 29, injury prone, doesn’t have a specific position anymore, not even a regular for the Spammers and he’s extremely inconsistent. He’s nowhere near good enough.

Rice is a clown, just a younger version of Dier. His weaknesses get expose at international level. We need a more mobile DM, someone similar to Fernandinho.

Diop was shocking yesterday but he’s still young and highly thought of but as you say WHam would never sell to us. I also feel he’s still not of the standard Mourinho would expect.

I'd love it if Jose brought Skipp through, but I feel like he wants a really physically imposing player in there. There is time for Skipp and tbh Matic would probably only last a couple of years here if we did sign him.

Yep. The reality is, even when Eriksen and Alli were at their best, we were never going to win the league with a front 4 that slow. I’d really struggle to name a top team from the last 20 years that has a frontline that lacking in pace. Make’s you too easy to defend against. We managed to mitigate against it for a period by pushing our (very rapid at the time) fullbacks high up the pitch. Ever since they left/slowed down we’ve looked impotent.

If we’re going to play Alli off of Kane, we need pace to burn either side, and preferably a bit more quality from the fullbacks too.

It’ll be interesting to see how Sessegnon comes along... which position he ends up and how he develops. Not entirely sure how quick he is until he gets a run. I think Lo Celso could get games in the “Willian/Kalou” role on the right, defending tenaciously from the front.
GLC needs to play in the middle. Playing him wide is a waste. He's not an explosive player like Willian/Kalou. He's more like Ozil but with aggression and defensive awareness

If we are going to stick with a 4231 then I'm not sure we really need a number 10 when Eriksen leaves. I think between Celso, Dele (who will very likely be favoured) and Lamela we have that covered. I would actually say we should look for another fast wide player who can score instead as we only have two. Ideally one that can play across the line. It all depends what Jose's thinking. Obv priority should be DM and defence, but if one were to think about players higher up the pitch this would be my move I think.

Overall I agree, I just feel he may struggle to get a lot of playing time in those central positions under Mourinho. I don't think the sexy 3 man midfield most of us dream of (a DM with Ndombele and Lo Celso either side) is going to happen very often.

I think Mou will build the team largely around that Kane/Alli dynamic, keeping an industrious 2 behind, and two hardworking wide players who can break quickly but who are also willing to chase back and cover. May not be the most sensational possession based game but it could be very very effective.

All conjecture obviously! Interesting times.

Ibrahimovic (free) and Bale (loan) would be unreal short term signings to make in January

In the summer I would like Leicester's Pereira and the best available defensive midfielder

Yes, exactly what I was saying yesterday. If Jose can continue to get those type of performances out of Dele then we need to find a player who can mirror Son on the other side way more.

Absolutely. At least one FB, CDM (CB if Toby doesn’t re-sign) and definitely a quick, goal scoring WF. Mourinho is likely going to use his wide forwards completely differently to Poch, stretching the pitch and using pace to run into the spaces created by this stretching. That’s two positions that currently have Son, Moura and possibly Sessegnon to cover them so we definitely need another player to cover that position
