Player watch: Christian Eriksen

Let's face it, the Vecino link is put in there to let teams know out there he is probably available, it's doing work for who ever his agency is.

I can't see anyone giving us money for Eriksen knowing what happens come the summer, someone is going to have to be desperate to fork over cash this window.

Someone might be willing to pay in Jan to beat the competition, but at the end of the day Eriksen will have the final say. Unless Madrid or Barca move for him I suspect he stays until the end of the season. Doesn't seem the guy to do stuff on a whim.

Well, supposedly having known for four years to get to this point another 6 months or so is going to make little difference to him, right?

One final large pay day for him and his agent.

Eriksen would be unreal in Serie A I reckon. Would be quite interested to see how he would get on at Inter. He's more than done his time here, imo, I don't begrudge him wanting to experience something new.

As long as there's a tiny possibility that RM or Barca will offer him a contract he'll let this drag on until summer.

Hello everyone, Inter fan here in peace.

There seems to be some misconceptions about Vecino.

Vecino is a very particularly attack-minded CM with good athleticism but mediocre ball skills. He can be incredibly useful yet clumsy and frustrating at the same time.

Vecino is extremely direct and rapid in transitioning play into attack. Essentially, Vecino will get into good positions in between lines to receive a pass, then try to play it forward straight away, and run to join the attack. Vecino's movement and timing is excellent in these phases. This is his greatest strength and the reason every Inter coach appreciates him.

He excels at running forward into space with the ball and he's good in the air. Most importantly, he has a knack for scoring decisive goals, such as the game winner against Spurs last season, and the goal against Lazio in the final game of 2017-18 which put Inter into the Champions League.

He covers a lot of ground and his distance covered is up there with Brozovic (who runs 12.5km per game). Most of that running however, is in attacking shifts and covering for wide players pushing up. Vecino is unequivocally NOT a DM of any kind. He isn't someone who makes a midfield stronger defensively - unlike Barella for example.

He's very divisive among Inter fans. Many fans hate him for his clumsiness and lack of technique, others appreciate him for his big game goals and directness. On good days, he injects directness and pace to a teams attack with his style of play. However, on bad days he will turn the ball over incessantly.

Personally, I find him to be a great impact sub and I'd love to keep him as an attacking option off the bench. I wouldn't sell him for anything under €20M.

If he does go to Tottenham, I feel his style is suited to the EPL anyway. He certainly doesn't lack any stamina or speed. And from what I've seen of Mourinho's Spurs, you guys could really use a physical CM to make late runs into the box, attack lay-offs from Kane and provide another aerial threat in the box. etc

With Vecino, it's all about how and when to use him. For example, he's never going to unlock a tight defense with finesse and skill a la David Silva. I suspect Mourinho will really appreciate his attacking and physical skill set. If he can use Vecino well, I think he will acheive the same cult hero status he has at Inter.
This is why I loved following Italian football in the 90s and early 00s. Brilliant detail and tactical observations. Thank you.

Me too. Used to love watching the Channel 4 Italian football show when I was a young lad. That funked up, badass title intro, the exotic stadia, the fervent crowds with their flags, Baggio, Batistuta, Vialli et al, James Richardson's weekly newspaper roundup from a Milanese cafe.

Golaccio! Ah the memories.

I think I'm right in saying Romano is supposed to know his stuff? If so looks like this is staring to move forward.

Inter sport director today had a meeting with Christian Eriksen agent. They made an ‘important’ contract bid to get the Danish midfielder as free agent on next June - but also ready to make a bid to Tottenham right now.

Says on his Instagram that we are asking for €20m to sell in Jan. Eriksen will meet with Inter himself next week but lots of other clubs still interested.

A bit of topic this but serie A still is the league I watch just to enjoy the sport. Watching PL you always decide who you wanna loose so it suits us. Takes away the fun.

If they re ran gazetta shows i’m sure we’d watch them. Great fun.
100%, peak Serie A. You can find some full episodes on YouTube, I watch some from time to time.

On topic, a January sale is looking more and more likely IMO. I think Inter is a good spot for him, and for us. Hopefully it inspires some movement as far as incomings.

If we want him out this month I reckon there will have to be some flexibility on the price. The market for him in the summer will be bigger and he will know that. If I were him I’d still sit tight. Had we not played him at all, I suspect he’d be desperate to go now, but as he’s played quite a bit, why would he go. He’ll have the pick of more teams in the summer.

Sky saying Eriksen’s agent is in talks over the weekend with inter.
Hope it is for a move now rather than the summer and we can just end this
