Admittedly I haven't done statistical research on this, but I suspect we've had more than our statistically speaking fair share of transfer failures. We haven't succeeded that well with young signings either, plenty of N'Bentley signings to go around.
We have, but I believe we have done best with our cheaper, younger signings for the most part.
Whilst Bentley was young, he wasn't in the same category as Walker/Rose/Bale, in that he was already established and a somewhat high profile player.
Not quite sure how I'd judge Keane - he seemed very much like a Levy type buy (young talent from club in dire straits). One of best players of their time IMO, even forgiving him for his weird 6 months at Liverpool.
