This is the bit that sums up Spurs in the transfer market, for me.Also, I strongly disagree that moving two of our most established squad members, despite their flaws, and bringing in two players who may or may not improve us makes us stronger. The absolute best I'd hope for is we are no worse off because of it (and in all honesty I'm not convinced by that)
We are much happier to stick rather than twist. Stay with the status quo, rather than freshen up the squad.
This saw 18 months of no signings, Jan’s decline from his super-Jan peak, Ali’s loss of form, Eriksen’s unrest and the players showing the most desire to play often being Sissoko and Lamela, neither of whom should actually be at the club any more.
We are far too happy to sit and wait for the potential to develop, instead of cutting losses and turning over fringe players (Foyth being another example).
Just look at the effect Bergwijn had in the squad. We need, in my opinion, to move on the players that have stagnated, and replace them with potential, like Brooks or Eze.
