Also, if we are thinking of going with three at the back, it explains why we are looking for another centre back, and looking at wing backs for right backs.
We are not playing 3atb btw it’s just what we did under Jose most games, 4-4-2 OOP and lopsided 4-2-3-1 in possession so yea the RB is basically a RWB in this system but it’s not actually a 3atb formation so to speak if that makes sense.

Yea with a manager who didn’t speak English and when we’d just sold our best strikers. Bentley had a stormer against Roma from what I remember and Darren bent mabye?
Bent had an incredible preseason that year. What a goal machine. I think he got an England call up on the back of his preseason form.

I can't believe I just paid to watch friendly's vs this level of opposition...

Where do you get the code from?

After paying I should have immediate access to the game and shouldn't need a code.

EDIT: It's working now.

I love pre seasons friendly knee jerks. Didn't we beat Roma 5-1 the season Harry had to save us after 10 games?

5-0! Bent and Bentley both got 2. I remember thinking we were going to be quality. Bent had a great pre season in general.

On paper it suits our squad well:

- Sess, Gedson Tanganga, and maybe even Foyth, would actually get game time.
- Left of a CB3 is probably Davies' best position.
- Dele, Son, Lucas and Bergwijn can play more as inside forwards rather than needing to stay out wide where none of them are as effective.
- The extra defensive cover in the middle might also suit Ndombele better than a straight 4-3-3/4-2-3-1.
- A like-for-like replacement for Aurier is far less essential as Gedson becomes a legitimate option at RWB.

Not sure quite what Lo Celso's best position would be though.

***I know it’s ipswich*** but how nice is it having 2 midfielders comfortable on the ball
Yea you’re spot on mate. I think even the most ardent Jose haters would’ve even enjoyed that, much crisper stuff. Sissoko has his uses especially in big games where we need his physicality and power but in games like this where we need to dominate and create having 2 CM’s who can pass is a game changer.

it also makes me really hope ndombele sorts himself out or we move him on ASAP and get another CM in as with the amount of games we have we can’t just rely on hoyjbjerg winks and Sissoko.

One observation is winks and PEH are playing more of a double pivot. Most of the time PEH is actually more advanced. Probs doesn’t mean anything but interesting to see.

Thats what I thought originally, but I think we are playing three at the back. It's just at times a midfielder comes in, to make it a back 4, and Ben Davies is also playing high up, but in a central area, kind of like what Sheffield utd do. It sometimes looks like a flat four at times but it's rarely the same players.

Love what hojbjerg brings, let's every one else focus on what they do best.

More excited for the 2nd half and hopefully seeing some of the youngsters, especially Devine and Cirkin

We have weapons. Hjobjerg seems to give us freedom. Dele looks up for it.

Shame we won't see Ndombele today. If he comes good this season, who knows?!

Decent first half. Son is on it. Fernandes looking good at RWB, Dele has looked sharp, PEH has been impressive.

Looks like 3-4-3 formation, but Dele seems to be floating, so it’s ending up more 3-4-1-2.. It kinda suits us though. We get four midfielders, 3Cb’s, two wingers, two strikers, and one floaty fella. Opposition is poor, so hard to really judge. We also have Kane, LoCelso, *Bergwijn (edit) Ndombele (if he stays), Dier and Sanchez to come in. Quite positive. Or, I’ve had too many ciders. Who knows?

Gedson defo looks good against that opposition also looks like a hint of a pressing game coming back.

Gedson has had a decent 45 mins but it’s hardly enough time to come to the conclusion that he’s our back up for our RB next season. He has hardly been tested and if we sell Aurier we need two right backs to challenge for top 4.

Yea all nuances really. I think it’s the same as what we’ve done under Jose for most of his matches tbh I don’t think he’s actually set us out as 3-5-2 as Davies his been sitting back a lot but it’s quite fluid to be fair like you say with the CM dropping in sometimes , very promising:)
