Could it not be a matter of priority? For instance:
- He knows he has limited funds
- Maybe he feels he needs, more importantly, a Striker and (for instance) a CB or a midfielder

In that scenario, which is he more likely to say (outwardly):
- I'm happy with what I have
- I'd like more options at LB too if I can...and if he doesn't, it creates a negative news story

Yeah very possibly mate. Let’s see how José is towards the end of the window if Levy is doing the hokey-cokey like he usually does.

He was pretty firm on the striker situation today which was nice to see.

I can't see us signing a non-HG left-back unless there is movement out right now. It cuts down our options with the striker too much.

Cirkin's pace from what I've seen worries me. The elephant in the room is Sessengon personally I see him as a wing forward however Mourinho has stated him being the next Ashley Cole.

Cirkin isn't slow at all, he's got better pace than Davies.

With signing of Doherty there is literally nothing to suggest that our system will change and Davies is ideal for that. If we want left back to be offensive Sessegnon can play that role very well too. Oh, and Davies in a more attacking system when we played good football in 16/17 and 17/18 was at least top5 for goal involvement per 90 for PL defenders.

We signed RB, DM and we will sign striker. Suggesting that we can't compete for top4 and trophies when we will have probably the best squad in EL, ended 4 times in top4 in last 5 years with being in top4 this season since Jose came is ridiculous too

It’s a fair point and you’re entitled to that opinion. I do agree we have certainly improved 2 first team positions at RB & DM with players who this manager actually wants (and in the case of Høljberg, a specialist role the squad didn’t offer José last season). This is definitely a positive.

However it’s likely Rose and Aurier will leave. Aurier was first choice last season and Rose is our only alternative senior pro at left back (after Davies). I don’t agree with you that Sessegnon is a suitable back-up at full back

As a result, I’m not convinced of our depth at full back (with KWP also leaving) if we get injuries to key players like last season. I think it’s a really key area to get right if we want to compete.

Some rumours that Marcelo could leave, I think in that case Reguilon would stay

I really don’t understand this. We are incredibly weak at left back.

Davies does a solid job but he’s got no competition and he’s not particularly dynamic if you want to play a more attacking system. I also think he was bigged up by José last season due to the limited options he had - he’s solid enough, but not exceptional.

The other two (Sessegnon and Cirkin) are kids who should definitely not be playing first team (perhaps Europa & League Cup but that’s it). I’m also unconvinced that Sessegnon will be a full back, long term.

DM, RB, LB & a backup for Harry were the fundamental signings in this window. The suggestion that we can compete for Top 4 and trophies with the options we have now I just find ridiculous.

Not really that ridiculous. Liverpool won the title without adequate back up for either RB or LB. Every squad needs strengthening in some positions it's just the nature of squad building.

This one has me confused, I think we have higher priorities than LB at the mo and I think even Jose has stated similar publicly too.

Having said that, this guy looks quality, he is young and doesn't seem to be way over priced either. Smells like a Levy deal if there is any truth at all in the rumours for this one.
Its not going to address our main issues and it wouldn't be a good sign for Sessengon but it still feels like a deal we should do IF its there.

Yeah even if not for this lad you’d hope we’re in the market for a LB one way or another if Danny goes

Cirkin is back with the U23 today, so maybe we plan to loan him out if we can get Sergio
