Somewhere between Reg-you-lawn and rayg-you-lon, apparently

Hah that's definitely wrong, trust me. As I said, Reh-ghi-LON (with a rolling R if you so dare ;))

Apparently a buy back clause is putting United off him.

Depends on the clause. I imagine Levy would agree to it, but only if it were a figure like £100million. :ROFLMAO:

Any chairman worth their salt would see Woodward coming a mile off. Recent Athletic article wrote they didn't want to deal with Levy as he would make mincemeat out of Woodward.

Don't think Levy would go for a buy back at all but wouldn't be surprised if we managed to sign him without one.

We didn’t push the button on ceballos last season because of it. Now because of COVID and getting a player in for 12 months, I don’t think there is harm in it. In 12 months time the player might be desperate to stay and a deal could be done.

I think it’s such a silly thing to be black/white about. It’s about the terms.

If they want 20M and want a 25M buyback, then of course it’s silly, that’s basically just a loan and should be structured as such.

but, if we buy for 20, and have a buyback starting in 2 summers at 40+, it’s great business. Worst case we get 2 years of a solid left back while Sess/Cirkin develop and a big fee when Madrid buy him back.

This reads very much like no move for Reguilon in the offing

I really don’t understand this. We are incredibly weak at left back.

Davies does a solid job but he’s got no competition and he’s not particularly dynamic if you want to play a more attacking system. I also think he was bigged up by José last season due to the limited options he had - he’s solid enough, but not exceptional.

The other two (Sessegnon and Cirkin) are kids who should definitely not be playing first team (perhaps Europa & League Cup but that’s it). I’m also unconvinced that Sessegnon will be a full back, long term.

DM, RB, LB & a backup for Harry were the fundamental signings in this window. The suggestion that we can compete for Top 4 and trophies with the options we have now I just find ridiculous.

I think Mourinho is just making the right noises to stop us getting fisted on prices.

No way he's signing off on a 17 year old being our second LB for the season.

FYP just in case anyone misinterprets your post as stating facts.

You’re welcome.

Think this is Mourinho just playing the game tbh. We may not get Reguilon but completely different to the striker situation, where it'd be so transparent if he came out today 'I don't want a striker'

Cirkin is 18, and will finish the season as a 19 year old.

When Trent Alexander-Arnold was 18, finishing the season as a 19 year old, he started 19 league matches.

I thought it was because we were against loans without options that we passed on Ceballos?

Could it not be a matter of priority? For instance:
- He knows he has limited funds
- Maybe he feels he needs, more importantly, a Striker and (for instance) a CB or a midfielder

In that scenario, which is he more likely to say (outwardly):
- I'm happy with what I have
- I'd like more options at LB too if I can...and if he doesn't, it creates a negative news story

With signing of Doherty there is literally nothing to suggest that our system will change and Davies is ideal for that. If we want left back to be offensive Sessegnon can play that role very well too. Oh, and Davies in a more attacking system when we played good football in 16/17 and 17/18 was at least top5 for goal involvement per 90 for PL defenders.

We signed RB, DM and we will sign striker. Suggesting that we can't compete for top4 and trophies when we will have probably the best squad in EL, ended 4 times in top4 in last 5 years with being in top4 this season since Jose came is ridiculous too

All that was from Jose was a thinly veiled message to Rose to sign the Genoa contract.

Exactly this.
  • We need to get Rose off the wage bill to sign someone
  • Genoa want Rose
  • Rose thinks he’s too good for Genoa
This is Jose’s unsubtle way of telling Rose to sign the Genoa deal (which then frees up wage money for Jose get his new Striker and/or Reguilon)
