30 mins into the 1st match of the season and already Winks isnt good enough, Davies is shit, Dele isn't up to it and we lack creativity.

SC can be great sometimes

This midfield does not work AT ALL. 0 passing creativity.

Really still not a fan of this lopsided formation.

Doherty is far too high, to the extent that Toby has to either pass it left or go long. We've essentially no build-up on our entire right hand side.

To counter this, Hojbjerg is doing the Sissoko job of covering the space left by Doherty (which is still far too large and vulnerable to the counter) but that's leaving Winks as our only real midfield option so we're struggling to build from the back.

On the left side, Davies sitting tighter is forcing Son into an almost LWB role where his attacking qualities are limited pretty significantly.

Having someone like Reguilon and balancing the team would have so many benefits imo, although sadly Doherty isn't really a pure RB so not even sure that would work.

The gameplan right there. Soak it up and hit em on the counter. It's a good plan for our team, especially while Ndombele and GLC are out.

Enjoyable match so far. Both teams going for. Also, I'm really impressed by how good Everton is at moving the ball, looks like Allan and Doucouré are money well spent.

I'd say we looking OK so far. However, it's discouraging seeing how miserable our link-up play through the middle is at times.

What is Moura supposed to be doing?

He isn't isolating his full back like Son and he's not creating space for Doherty.

They just look sharper and fitter than us.

That is all. Hopefully it fitness and there's will meet up in the second half and our superior quality will show.
