I'm sure Mourinho will have been impressed by the way he took responsibility tonight. His contribution was very important.

One thing I noticed, and it's a small detail, he never once stood still. He was either jogging across to ensure space was covered, passing and then bursting forward or dropping into spaces in between.

Last season he was standing in space not anticipating anything (defensively or offensively).

Encouraging
Yes this, I noticed quite a few times when we attacked sissoko stood alongside his marker rather than moving off into space, changed when tanguy came on and made such a difference

If he's not carrying any niggles or knocks from previous injuries then Jose needs to push him and play him as much as possible (within -reason). He needs his capacity levels increasing.
Gotta also consider he’s had the Chi-na virus

(edit. That was actually said in a ‘post ironic’ Trump style ridiculousness way btw @C-oops)

Only player at the club currently that can pass a ball accurately into our forwards. Madness not to play him, let alone sell him.
Not just accurately, but quickly too. No fannying about, taking three or four touches and looking for the easiest pass and letting the opposition get into better defensive position. Ball comes to him, one touch and drilled forward. We desperately need that.

Stick PEH in front of the back four and tell Tanguy to do whatever he fancies. This guy possesses a skillset which no other player in our squad has. Absolute class.

(who wrote it earlier?) I also think he’s possibly the most gifted player in our squad; appreciate he’s not fully formed for PL as yet, but I really see him as a future world class player

If PEH plays how he played tonight for the rest of the season, than Ndombele - GLC with PEH behind them will work. Split the CBs and covered fullbacks in possession allowing everyone to push forward, and broke up almost all of their counter attacks.

Exciting.

Well there you have it, frankly I think what is under appreciated and especially on here is that it's not a simple case of motivation but not everybody who is going to move countries is going to find it seamless. You can chuck money and live in a fancy apartment all you want but the mental side of you does not give a shit about those things. Now usually a player can circumvent the difficult of moving abroad by doing what they do best and starting games but clearly, clearly in the documentary he was struggling with confidence because he wasn't starting games and it was effecting his entire personality.

Do I wish he was able to push through and work harder instead of letting those things be a catalyst for not putting in the effort. Of course I do but the amount of people who wrote him off and I'm sure continue to write him off because he had trouble settling in was frankly ridiculous. He's going to come good, I've said it before and I'll say it again he's had difficulties every step of the way and he has struggled initially but overcome. I truly believe he will do so with us and frankly there's no player whose turnaround I want to shove down peoples throats more the way some people wrote about him completely dismissing the possibility he just needed time to settle.
