PEH is a true DM, I have no idea why people keep claiming he isn't. Problem is if you have attacking full backs you really need 2 defensive minded midfielders. I'd have like an Azpile****a type rather than Doc and then PEH, Lo Celso and Ndombele can work
It depends how you class a true DM. PEH instinct is to close down, press and tackle.

The DM in the sense of dropping in as the 3rd centre back and covering the space of the attacking fullbacks is not really PEH

Give Tanguy the freedom with not much tracking back, like when Eden Hazard was at chavs. That is how you get the best out of him

Hopefully this makes sense... but to me he is so much more worth accommodating the formation/players for than Alli. We build a formation around Dele and he's bad. Build the team around Ndombele and it will be well worth it.

I think he'll soon lose patience with Sissoko - he misplaced a lot of passes today. Once Ndombele is match fit, I genuinely expect to see him work his way as first choice along with Lo Celso.
I hope so because then that would mean we may get a replacement in. Prob not now but next year.

We all know Sissoko's short comings but I've just realised something else about him.

When he's in and out of the team he's generally poor, he seems to need a run of games. He is also a poor substitute as he doesn't provide anything game changing.

I thought about keeping him around cause of his effort however I'm changing my mind as I think he needs to have his own spot in the XI to really do well.

Unquestionably made a big difference when he came on. He was constantly showing for the ball, and looking for ways to progress us forward. When a player does this, you have to keep in mind, that it is a lower percentage play. He's going to miss some of those passes. But if misses 20% of the time, I'm okay with that. As most in our team would misplace 60% of the passes he attempts.

I am desperate to see him be a success at the club. Not just for us fans and the team... but for the human being known as Tanguy. A person who clearly struggled settling last season due to a variety of reasons that have been discussed ad-nauseum.

Perhaps the best approach right now is to make sure he plays in every game over the next month, albeit subbing in. Let his fitness and confidence grow. And I wouldn't be surprised if by November he is able to start and be impactful over 70 mins.

We have to play the long game with him, as there is far too much talent there to just give up.

BTW - you couldn't tell from a couple of comments I read during the match that he was playing well. Didn't take long for a few to tear into him. But I'm glad that most on SC saw what I saw tonight... promise.

It was great to see him moving much better, it wasn't as much the not tracking back that worried me before but the not showing for a pass. I think when you have his level of ability you just assume people will trust you to take it under pressure but I think until people get to trust him its important he works hard to get in space and he was doing that well today. I hope Jose learns that Hojbjerg is the deepest midfielder and plays locelso and winks in the box to box role and allows ndombele the freedom that Herc speaks about.

Makes even more sense to go 4-3-3 now if Bale joins.
Also more hopeful that TN can step up fitness wise gradually with regular cameos off the bench.

So pleased that from the minute he came on he was looking to pass it forward at every opportunity. He can do something no other player we have can. Was really worried Jose had given up on him and he was done with Spurs. Tonight seems to show there is hope he's staying and going to be a big part of Jose's plans.

Jose must’ve said ‘at this time’ about 450 times in that interview. ‘I trust Tanguy at this time’ etc. He’s making it very clear that he could change his view at any time if Tanguy goes back to how he was last year.

Still has a long way to go re fitness. Even after the goal he looked absolutely shattered and he’d been on the pitch 25 mins. But he changed the game and if he can get his fitness to top levels then he’ll be massive for us. It’s literally just his fitness (and possibly attitude from various stories) stopping him from becoming a worldie. He can see passes that not many others can see, let alone pull off.

Which is right imho - Jose should not as manager giving any player a chance to rest on their laurels - half the problem with this team is complacency and it's so bloody frustrating watching players with so much to offer, give so little. Tanguy, though played very well and I truly hope we are seeing the player we thought we were buying. I think everyone at the club and fans alike want to see him go onto what we all believe he can.

Honestly, I would be prefer if we let Tanguy start games and have him give his all for 45-70 minutes. It would definitely help get the team into an attacking rhythm from the offset and hopefully bag a couple goals and then have Sissoko come in to see the game out. We don't look like a team that enjoys mounting comebacks, so we should focus on getting early goals and then Jose should follow-up with his sit back and absorb pressure routine.
