Our number 9 should be fit by then
And the transfer window will have closed so we'll also likely have our shiny new striker meaning Kane won't have to play three matches per week. All in all it would be far better for us if they're able to rearrange the Orient match for next week with our fourth round match pushed back to after the international break.

Would be brilliant as it would allow us to play a strong side against Chelsea which won't be possible if we play them next week. The Europa qualifiers are so important to the club's finances and ambitions that they have to take precedence. For now we're playing what is essentially our best XI on Thursdays but once we're into the group stage we'll be playing rotated sides.

If the match against Orient takes place next week and the fourth round is pushed back to after the international break, we'd be able to play our best players Tuesday/Sunday in the League Cup and Premier League, with our rotated team playing Thursday in the group stage. Would be a massive boost to our chances of advancing to the fifth round.

That could not happen if we are drawn against Chelsea, as every time we will play on the Thursday, they would play on the Tuesday or Wednesday.

Personally I think some financial considerations will be worked out between Tottenham and EFL towards Orient, and we will progress.

We probably have too many players away to play it during the international break. That might have been a solution

Hmm, good point. The only place to fit it in would be between the EL/CL group stage ending on 10 December and the League Cup quarterfinals two weeks later. We're currently scheduled to play Palace, Liverpool and Leicester in between those two dates so one of those three matches would have to be rearranged, along with Chelsea's league match on that matchday, to make it possible. Seems an absolute mess.

There's a statement from the EFL

But it doesn't say whether it's postponed or cancelled, or what happens next
Discussions ongoing should only be a matter of will Orient be compensated for loss of income. There is literally no available slot in the calendar for us or Chelsea to move the 4th round fixture in time for the quarter final in December.

So official that tonight's game is not happening (not surprising), but still discussions regarding whether it's postponed to a later date or we get the bye. Should just be the bye to be honest. Sucks for them sure, but that is the rule isn't it?

Can we not just postpone this game, and then have Chelsea chucked out for shits and giggles?

The bit about talks ongoing about the implications tells me there is disagreement between the clubs. If that disagreement is based on us highlighting that neither us nor Chelsea (in the event they beat Barnsley) have no flexibility in our schedules then I think that leans towards one team forfeiting. But there’s a lot of talk amongst Orient fans that they had a team ready to play tonight so who forfeits may come down to who made the decision not to play tonight - was it us due to reservations or was it the authorities?
