Aurier was very very good today too, I’d start him over Doherty next match as you can’t drop him after that.

Hasn’t hung Bruno out to dry for his disgraceful diving in the box
Exactly, everybody thought he was actually coaching them to dive, the way they were throwing themselves to the ground in the second half of last season.

I must admit I knew nothing about Hojbjerg as a player. Good gawd , if that's how he plays regularly,..I think we may have an absolute bargain

⭐️Just listening to the Sky Analysis - for me (who works in a coaching/psychology capacity) it’s not so much about recruitment of new players, it’s about managing and elevating all players in your squad. ⭐️

And that comes down to practical psychology and great man management.
Look at Harry Kane as a prime example. He’s got a superb ‘never say die’ mindset.
He’s come through the tough way.

Too much is made of recruitment.
But great teams are built on tough-love, extreme levels of fitness and commitment...and high levels of confidence.

That comes from the training paddock.
That comes from how you react to on-field situations.
How deep you want to go when the going gets tough.
How fearless you are.
How committed you are to the team and the fans.
Look at Lamela and Le Celso.

These psychological skills are not natural.
These skills are learnt. They are learnt from those in your immediate circle.
From Poch and from José.
That is why Spurs are thriving.
And why Man United are diving.

Yes...new recruits elevate sides.
But they only elevate sides because those players have already learnt those psychological skills.
That‘s why they are worth the real money. They add incredible value.

However buying players without the psychological skills is either a risky investment or a stupid investment.
Can they be coached-up?
Yes...but, only if they have a can-do attitude and a progressive manager.

Absolutely loved this game! I can still remember when going to Old Trafford was a guaranteed loss and now we’ve given them their 2nd defeat at OT in a row for the first time since 86 (IIRC), bloody brilliant stuff that!

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to MOTD: “It is history for Tottenham, history for my boys and I cannot deny it is also history for me.
"I won many times in this stadium, mostly with Manchester United but also with Chelsea, Real Madrid and now Tottenham.
“It is a victory of the squad, not just the team but the squad. It is a victory of the confidence, the team is so confident. To concede in the first minute we could have been destroyed. I feel very happy, it is an honour for us to have this unique record in this stadium.
“We were the best team. They couldn’t stop us when we were 11 v 11. We were winning already, we were missing chances. The performance was very, very impressive.
"The squad made it, Chelsea, Maccabi and Manchester United – the squad made it. If the squad made it, my club structure made it because that made it possible to have this squad. We came here with fresh legs with some players injured and some in the stands. We can face competitions.
"The message this week was that together and with this squad we can make it."

Beautiful
