It's not as baffling as it seems. Newcastle look unstructured going forward, but they are defensively quite solid, even if it can be pretty desperate at times.

I also don't think Wolves are all that this season, so a draw is not a surprising result. Its worth mentioning that generally the point they nicked against us is probably the only unexpected point they got. They beat west ham, and west ham looked very bad at the start of the season. Beat Burnley, who have yet to win a game and drew against Wolves, who are a team who have scored 6 goals in 6 games.

They are dour to watch, but I don't think their results are unexpected.

Maybe, but we missed a lot of good chances and Wolves messed up plenty of opportunities today that were nothing to do with Newcastle's "defensive structure"... ??‍♂️

Thomas looked quality against Rapid, let's see how he does in the Prem.

I do think they have a gem of a player there though, excellant all round midfielder.

They are also missing Shelvey, Hayden and one of the Longstaffs

Struggle to see Leicester scoring against Arsenal without Vardy on the pitch. He's so important for them. No Soyuncu in the back also means they'll struggle to keep them out, especially considering they're going with Christian Fuchs against Saka and Auba :ROFLMAO:

I think Arsenal will win this one. Draw would be an amazing result.

Leicester win for me. They won't be anywhere near the top 4 at the end of the season, squad depth isn't great and they've got some real injury concerns.

Anywhere near the top 4? They just about finished 5th last season and so far there's no consistent teams at the top, they have every chance.

mmm I'm not sure about that. Wolves created very little meaningful all game, wolves had 0.9 xG, which really isn't that much (Newcastle had 0.3 ? ). We should have beaten them quite comfortably, but we are on a different level to wolves so far in this season. Newcastle aren't good, but they are solid enough to compete against teams around there level and lower.

I hope so. But I'm a bit worried about Arsenal this season. They seem to be the only team in the top 6 that can defend, and that tends to be a good indicator in the long term. They haven't had the easiest run to start the season, but find themselves coming out of that in a strong position. It's too early to say how it will go, but it's been a positive start for them.

I didn't watch but BBC mentioned Jimenez missing chances they'd have expected him to score about five/six times. Maybe they weren't as obvious as reported but I'm regularly baffled by xG, so... ?

Really enjoyed that Wolves v Newcastle game.
Fell into a lovely sleep 3 mins in. Woke up to see Wolves score, said bollox then fell back to sleep.
Woke up after the match and heard Newcastle still unbeaten away or something like that. Checked score and what a pleasent surprise, they'd equalised.
Great match.
