again, your assumption is only the back four have any responsibility to defend. You say yourself our midfielders left so much space in front of the defense that an opponent will have a field day.

Exactly, thus my point that we cannot play this high press, attacking football. - we don't have the defenders to leave so much space.

I don't agree that this backs up the view that this is why we can't/shouldn't be more attacking in our play. Everton are decent, and we also lost to them on the first day of the season when we played in a more circumspect manner. It happens. I'm not in a million years accepting we can't play like this against the likes of Brighton, West Brom and Fulham though.

The core for me is Hugo (yes he was terrible, but exposed). If we’re playing expansive and giving up more chances, I still do believe he’s good enough. Calvert lewins goal was his fault, but also hojbjergs, and richarlisons second it can be argued he shouldn’t be scoring from there, but it was some finish. Reguilon. Hojbjerg. Ndombele. Lo celso. Kane. Son. Everyone else ranges from shouldn’t see the pitch again to potentially a massive part of the future. But those 7 are it. The middle of the defense needs improving with someone big. I’d spend nearly the whole budget on a CB who can come in and change things instantly and a rapid left footed winger who can make things happen 1v1.

I know I'm echoing the rest here when I say it, but this is what happens when we attack. Goals at both ends.

can’t legislate for Sanchez and Winks mistakes.
Very poor quality

Sorry for Jose here

some players letting him down. So many mistakes

I’d have no problem with winks, Sissoko, Sanchez, packing their bags in the Summer. New CM and CB

we could also improve RB and GK.

Lamela has stepped up well last few, but Moura and Bergwijn don’t make enough assists or goals. So that can be upgraded too.

Everyone is so touchy over Kane but I can't name a single time we've been knocked out of a cup where we could all say "At least Harry gave it everything." He always disappoints when its on the line

How we are now reminds me a bit of how it was under Christian Gross with Vega at centre back. Every time the opposition attack you just feel like theyre going to score through a cataclysmic individual error.

Here’s one though ...... totally done with some of these players just the usual culprits who it’s clear as day to anyone with half decent football knowledge that they aren’t good enough winks ... sissoko .... dier .... Davies etc ! Then there is Jose .... not a fan of the football at all ! Here comes the problem them players need to go but if Jose goes they prob end up staying and we have to put up with the same shit ! So what do you do ? Do you just back Jose and hope when he gets who he wants and guts out the crap things improve ? I think so ! So I’m done hating on Jose now it’s a squad problem more than anything imo

nobody does! Nobody commits 6 guys forward the entire game. At least one CM - Hojbjerg in this case - is supposed to fill that space and break up play.

Winks and Sissoko... they’re actually getting worse!! How?

BUT I still think we win if there weren’t a couple of incompetent spunk bubbles officiating tonight...

I thought I'd heard that. Absolutely incredible to change the rules part way though an official competition. Should've awarded us the 3pts at the same time if they're going to do that.

Doesnt matter even if they changed the rules mid way through the season. Davies moves his arm towards the ball and it hits him on the elbow. That shit has been a penalty since football began. How VAR can look at that and not award the spot kick is baffling.

Harry Kane is the least of our fucking worries at the moment.

Can see why we’ve set up largely negatively since west ham. With the poor defending and keeping tonight and mistakes, it shows that if we attack and leave gaps, the defence just isn’t good enough. We need players that we can trust to not make mistakes consistently. I really liked the football, but winning football trumps entertaining football every time for me. I’d love to have both, but that won’t be possible until the squad is balanced out.

The problem with the cautious setup is it invites pressure which in turn causes our defenders to make mistakes. Regardless of how we setup our defence isn't good enough. Personally, I'd rather we attack and pin our hopes on Kane and Co. being able to outscore our defensive mistakes than sit back and suffer through performances like Brighton.
