Fair enough and I agree he deserves a little slack. I would be grateful though if you would give an example of what might have happened behind the scenes that saw him continuing with Dele on the left of a three man midfield. I believe he should have made a better judgement three or four games ago.

I would imagine a lot of it came down to fitness, effort, application in training. I assume the replacement personnel wise would have to be one of GLC or NDombele being as they are the two you mention? MD spent the entire Summer saying he wanted to leave and turned up at pre season unfit and out of shape. GLC has had minor injuries and then fucked off to S.A and had to quarantine on his return missing games. Then factor in the amount everyone shouting about our running stats as a team(which the club will have been more than aware of) and look at which player had been covering the most ground....Dele! The only other real option then was Winks, and well eughh.

MD now looks like he's close to full fitness now, and GLC has had a few more training sessions and minutes under his belt.

None of this even takes into account any political motivations or squad chemistry reasons that could well have affected the decision. Nuno has only known the players a couple of months, so I don't expect him to have a full grasp of the players yet. If Dele had been the one impressing in training while the other two weren't it's hardly a surprise he'd go with Dele.

Waiting for poch.

Ornstein added that the club are denying this clause exists by the way

Funny how this comes out when we finally get a win. Anyone would think there is an attempt to constantly destabilise us. I suspect it is bollocks too or else we would know about it before now thanks to the loose lips of Paratici's journalist mates.

My guess is Nuno was always a short term appointment.
IMO Levy wants Poch, who will likely be available in the summer if he doesn’t win the CL. And I’d wager Nuno can be tin-tacked for fuck all if we dont finish top 4.

Just gotta suck it up for a season lads.
If his intention was always to bring Poch back asap he wouldn't have employed Paratici.

4-3-3 worked well in the early games of the season and in that preseason mind tournament, ultimately he's learning what our squad can and can’t do. As fans we need to allow him to 'get it wrong' now and again without absolutely ripping him apart. In an ideal world we would be able to be tactically flexible, Dele would be able to be a dominant central midfielder, he probably wanted this so tried to make it happen. There is no real shame In it, all managers try things and try to find solutions.

Our squad, gives any manager problems, in order to rest Hojbjerg and Skip throughout the season and continue to play 4-2-3-1 one of Ndombele, Lo Celso, Winks, Alli, White or John is going to have to become a decent central holding midfielder.

It's either that or develop new formations we are comfortable in.

There is certainly some prick feeding the Athletic a stream of negative information. Thing is Journo's don't even bother fact checking now before going to print.

You'd think, wouldn't you?

Instead, a couple of shit performances lead many on here to declare their hatred for him.

Not dislike. Not impatience. Not exasperation.

Hatred.

Tells you quite a lot about the mentality of some of the people on here.

Edit: They're currently identifying themselves by neg repping this post. Excellent.

Yep Levy is known for giving away control of transfers and worse, spending an awful lot of money just to throw tinfoil hat wearing fans off the scent.
Lighten up u plonker, I was having a laugh.

Been a problem for decades.

But yes, someone there is either feeding them something or they just use us to generate content. It is funny how Ornstein never seems to have a positive thing to say about us though isn't it? We used to have a similar problem with Matt Hughes at the Times (now Daily Mail).

There's nightmare fixture pile up on its way starting with the South American 4 probably not fit for Newcastle. That game is the start of 5 in 14 days, 4 away including a trip to Holland. There are going to be lots of absentees as the squad is stretched to its limits. Would be amazed if Dele, for example, doesn't play in some of those games

In time maybe, lets get some stability, consistency and belief behind us first. Once the back four gel and learn each others games we may well be able to play different formations, but until then we need to have a steady approach the players all understand.
Be nice if he selected the same back four for say five or six games. Get them playing together and understanding how each other play.

Yes I think Dele was one of the few who were there and ready to train from when he arrived and he has really been trying. It's a great shame its just not working for him.

These qualifiers are a right pain in the arse. There is another set the second or third weekend in November too.

Absolutely, we got derailed by the last international break, and the next one is going to cause problems too.
Realistically, with us being in three competitions plus having so many international players we won't get a settled team this side of January, if at all

As I said though, we will have a Skipp ban to deal with pretty soon and he has been excellent defensively in general. Without a 'like for like' player to come in, I think we could well need a formation tweak to deal with his absence. Lo Celso could possibly step in but Skipp has a much more defensive mind set and I think a flatter CM3 might be necessary.
We’ll probably deploy a similar system and have Winks come in for Skipp imo.
