We used to be quite good at getting good prices for our young players. We really need to re-think how we handle these players with loans even if it’s just to get the value up.

If there are better players in Europe of the same age and similar as Markanday with a higher ceiling (De Ketelaere) then it would only become difficult for him to get game time with us.
Taking an approach of finding better isn't a bad thing even if we lose youth players.
If the club had not stood in Edwards way and played him frequently we may have had issues as he's shown he's not at the level required despite his talents

Yeah maybe but as I stated in the Youth Thread where we could continue this its not like anyone else in the first team is pulling out trees up front either. He seems to have a goal scoring touch, something we desperately lack. What could have gone wrong to send him out against Mura or Morecambe? Would we have been any worse? Training is one thing, Markanday developped so well the last year if he would have given the chance, who knows he couldnt have improved further? I am not saying he should have been our definite back up striker. But get the young lad on the pitch and if its only to give the academy a lift and show what is possible if you do very well for the U23s.
But we rather prefer players like Tanguy, Dele or Bergwijn to walk around the pitch contributing fck all.

great to hear. I was concerned that the Liverpool "false positives" would become a thing for whenever you have a few knocks or players away (like the gooners do now)

Of course they are. They’ve got a raft of excuses now - COVID, injuries, suspensions, AFCON and so on.
The only one that should be a viable excuse is COVID and PL should be requiring proof of positive tests.
No doubt Arsenal currently trying to find a way for Sunday, but they happily let two go out on loan this week…
