Tottenham to back Antonio Conte with £50m double transfer raid for Diego Carlos and Adama Traore from Sevilla and Wolves

Spurs yesterday entered the race with newly mega-rich club Newcastle for Sevilla centre-back Carlos.

And Conte’s side are set to make an improved offer for Wolves wideman Traore after having a £15m bid rejected.

Tottenham’s Italian boss has also expressed an interest in Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, who was the subject of a second Newcastle loan bid last night.

Toon chief Eddie Howe is not giving up hope of signing Carlos despite Sevilla insisting the defender will stay in Spain.

But the Magpies’ chances of bringing in the Brazilian could be hit now Tottenham have joined the chase.

Conte is desperate to add to his squad before the window closes at the end of the month as they battle it out for Champions League qualification.

AC Milan are also keen on Carlos but are yet to match Newcastle’s initial £30m offer, which has not proved successful yet.

GIven how crucial a WB position is, I highly doubt Conte would put him in for that game even if we'd signed him a couple of days ago.
We've all got it into our heads that he would be coming here for the RWB position, but in the short term we know he can have an impact in one of the AM positions. If he was signed in time he could have been on the bench and come on for the last 30 minutes - both to attack a tiring Chelsea defence and give Lucas a small rest.

Traore and Carlos coming in with Tanganga going on loan. Conte wants experience and Carlos fits the bill. Then Kessie and Vlahovic priority in summer

Diego Carlos

Is Diego Carlos any good?

Seems to enjoy giving away penalties...

Diego Carlos was part of the club's successful 2019–20 UEFA Europa League campaign. In the run up to the final, he conceded penalties in both of Sevilla's quarter-final and semi-final matches against Wolves and Manchester United respectively and then also gave away a penalty early on in the final itself against Inter Milan on 21 August 2020.

From Paul Jiggins, was he the one in the Kane saga or someone different?

the only thing i know for sure is he absolutely did not write the “kane to city for 160m” article. anything else is unclear but i recall jiggins being invited to our press conferences regularly, so surely there’s *some* connections there.
