For 19+5 in add ons is a great deal. Just to put into perspective, we were apparently asking £25 mil for tanganga.

I can see what Herc means by offensive. Offensive in the sense he is very proactive and aggressive in pressing and drives forward alot, basing this off multiple YouTube footage.

Essentially a much better PEH, bit more pace, tenacity, aggression, and skill too. I think he is going to be a great fit for contes system for sure.

Edit: He definitely isn't a DM though.

Until the end of last season (8 months ago, not "a few years" ago) they were reigning Serie A champions...and had been for 9 consecutive seasons.

Last season was considered poor by their standards, yet they still came away as Coppa Italia winners.
Their down ward spiral started earlier. They won Serie A under Sarri in 19/20 with one point but didnt play well and Inter should've beaten them that year. Juve won 2 out of the last 8 games.

I think you can compare him to Kovacic and Rodri in style of play ? ... wouldn't that be fair... them being better than Betancur of course...
He’s kind of in between them
but closer to a Rodri than a Kovacic as Kovacic really carries/dribbles the ball forwards a lot whereas Bentancur is much more of a passer/deep lying playmaker type who keeps things ticking over.

As I’ve said before, I watch a lot of Serie A as have Italian family and obviously Juve have featured a ton the last 10 years as they’ve been so dominant.

If you want to get a feel for what I’ve been saying watch the match vs Torino highlights video below.

As I said in my earlier post he’s primarily a combative defensive midfielder (more deep lying playmaker than a destroyer like PEH) who would be an upgrade on PEH, Skipp and Winks.

He’s exactly the functional type of CM that Conte likes. The thing is unless we also strengthen RWB & RW it wouldn’t matter if we put prime Xavi Alonso in our team as we need better attacking movement up top and better threat from our wing backs to open space for combative ball playing CM’s to look good.

But regardless of that he’d simply be an upgrade on what we have for a decent price and he’s an experienced winner.

Juve are going for Zakaria so Bentancur surplus to requirements really / they need to balance the books after also purchasing Vhalovic.

Maybe we want to overlook who was managing Inter when they "should" have beaten them to the 2019/20 title.

Never seen him play. Can he control a football properly and pick a pass under pressure without shitting himself?

If so, that would be an improvement.

He strikes me to similar in style to Andre Gomes, albeit a bit more consistent. He likes to impose himself in the game and allow the forward players to do their thing. He’s got great ball retention ability and he’s energetic, however he can improve on his passing numbers though.

A better word for him would be progressive. His passing is a bit more positive and progressive and generally just higher quality than the CM’s we have currently in PEH, Winks & Skipp.

If I think of a ‘very naturally offensive midfielder’ as Herc claimed him to be then I think of Lampard, Connor Gallagher types of players or De Bruyne or B.Fernandes when they play as an 8, Bentancur is absolutely nothing like any of them.

He can play defensive as a 6 but as I said more in that deep lying playmaker role or he can play more as an all-round solid 8. The latest video I shared will show what I mean.

Anyways he a good player and I hope we do sign him.

I like that we're signing 2 players our fans are going to misspell many times over. I think safe bet to call them Ben and Kulu but I still expect the odd typo.

I know compilations can be misleading but from what I've seen, Rodrigo has two skills/qualities that our current CM's don't have.

1) He's absolutely comfortable using either foot to pass or dribble.
2) Because he plays with his head up ( scans the field ahead of receiving the ball) he often plays first time accurate passes that lead to counter-attacks.

His passing technique and pass selection reminds me of Huddlestone, a very mobile and tackle proficient version of Huddlestone at that. I'm really looking forward to him playing.

Just wanted to say one club's "deadwood" can end up being key for someone else. Just because he and Kulu are deemed surplus to requirements at Juventus, it doesn't make them poor players.

I remember us signing Real Madrid's deadwood one summer..
