Goes both ways though.

It’s equally pointless for him to be here saying that he’ll get us playing good football in 4 transfer windows time when he’s bought another 8 top players in. Levy didn’t stick Man City posters all over Hostpur Way to trick him into signing for us, he knew what our rough budget was.

How much more did you really think we’d do over and above:

Richarlison
Deki
Bentancur
Spence
Bissouma
Peresic
Lenglet

Maybe we push the boat out for one more first XI upgrade at Romero’s sort of price?

Because let’s be honest, we’ve been crap for almost all of this season regardless of who is available, one more player wouldn’t have fixed this.

He needs to do a lot better. There’s issues at the club too but that doesn’t mean there’s no issue with Conte
How often have we had our best team like we did end of last season? Also Davies, Dier and Son have fallen off a cliff since then. We need 3 or 4 first team improvements still and a couple more for squad depth. 2 players can make a big difference as we saw when Bentancur and Kulusevski arrived and how poor we've been when either or both are out. We did do well last year but it's only half done, need another year like that to finish the rebuild.

Contes argument would have more weight with me if we were a solid decent side who aren't quite at the top level. I fully agree with Conte if we are fourth but the fans are moaning as we aren't challenging for the title - no arguments.

However, we are hopeless and played off the park every bloody week. We are nowhere near the level you can expect from a Tottenham side, so Conte has to take that on the chin and analyse his own performance.

If this line of "Conte must be backed at psg levels or he can't be expected to produce better than this" is accurate, it'll never work here.
This is my complaint also. The defence has been the problem, when we normally play with at least 6/7 defenders. I think, ironically, if we played with more attacking intent, we would be better at the back.
And I know I’m gonna sound like a child, but SPENCE!!! Conte would rather play Lucas at RWB than play a player Levy seemingly signed.

Maybe not but the who is that Levy could work with, and who would work with Levy? We've literally got a one man short list.
Which is a worry as I don’t think that one man can work with Paratici or are we getting rid of him as well if we do that means nobody comes in at all in January

People keep saying things like this. Since Conte arrived we’ve signed

Bissouma
Deki
Bentancur
Lenglet
Peresic
Spence
Richarlison

And Paratici also signed us Romero last summer.

I think a lot of coaches could work with that sort of recruitment.

It’s good now but what came before was awful and we are still building to fix that. If Paratici continues we will have a good team but I don’t think Conte will be here when that is ready:

All this lack of backing stuff is BS, with the situation this January still uncertain. If he is not backed I'll revise my opinion.

We are among the top spenders every year. There have been many flops but the whole recruitment was revamped recently so hopefully it won't be as often. But what is Conte expecting? Completely change the squad in one summer and one winter window? That's unreasonable. He is always asking for time but he is not doing it himself.

And he's absolutely not getting enough from this squad, we've been crap the whole season and the main reason for our position are set pieces.

Does he really have a solid excuse for this mess?

He needs to show some flexibility in the next two games otherwise I don't care which players he's given...a good manager does more than just buy players

I think Conte can he great if we give him the players he needs. But he's not going to improve anyone with coaching. So it's now imperative we spend lots of money or we sack him. And I suspect we'll go with option 2
Then that should be done with the upmost urgency.

The scary thing about Conte’s negative set up is we would clamour to sign Son and Kane if they played for other clubs… yet despite actually having these two world class players in our line up we still play turgid football and leave them chasing their own shadows.

The fear therefore is even if we bring in immediate upgrades at CB and RWB we’re still going to have the same negative approach. Outside of signing half a dozen very good to world class players we’re still going to set up the same, invite pressure and leave our forwards pissing in the wind.

Bringing Poch back doesn't change the fundamental reality that we don't properly back our managers when it comes to the crunch, and won't change how we've been operating within a deliberately self-imposed glass ceiling

What does he mean here? At the end it sounds like he’s saying the club are going to give him the players he needs.

I still wonder why we did so well at the end of the last season with the same players, under the same "stubborn" manager and tactics, who doesn't change his ways, but this season it has been the polar opposite?

Can't be Conte's fault then, he's too "stubborn" to change his tactics. The only other suspect? The players.

Maybe not but the who is that Levy could work with, and who would work with Levy? We've literally got a one man short list.
It amazes me that people expect a change in coach to be a brighter future.

EVERY single coach we've had has at some point had an issue with the way Levy works.

AVB complained that Levy brought in a load is players he didn't want and ignored players he wanted.

Poch (and his body language) complained that the club needed to behave like a big club and go up a level with players, start to replace quality with quality instead of punts.

Jose couldn't believe he was fired on the eve of a final and made a dig at Levy.

I don't see how people can continue to back Levy. He's proven time and time again to be a huge hindrance on coach's ability to get us over the line.

The coach he had the best relationship with (the perfect coach for him) even got pissed off eventually.

There's no other club that has had that many coaches leaving feeling frustrated, bemused or angry.

Absolutely no-one should be wanting Levy to still be in charge of any footballing decisions.

The club needs new ideas, a new direction and new energy

Any manager will require the same. Our squad is a mess, it’s like someone grabbed ingredients for a Chocolate cake, a Lasagne and a Roast Dinner and threw them together.
There’s no doubt that the squad needs heavy investment but I’m not sure I agree that it would need top-to-bottom changes regardless of who replaced Conte.

Jose, Nuno, and Conte all play counterattacking football. That is the profile of the squad we’ve built. A manager such as say, Tuchel, would need additional squad depth but not necessarily wholesale changes.

Poch, on the other hand, would require a total revamp. The board has to be willing to commit to a long, painful process if that’s the route we choose.

This. Its all very well calling for Conte's head. But I very much doubt that those doing so would give Poch or any other "project'" manager any amount of time if he underachieved/struggled with the same group of players. With no firebrand in charge ie Conte, ENIC or Levy would be under no pressure to spend.

Plus if Conte goes - Kane and Son go to, and I very much believe Romero and Richarlison would be next this summer too. But thats OK for some as it will be Poch in charge, playing "pretty" attacking football with a few bargains from Ligue 1 brought in and we can heroically finish 8th or 9th and be truly happy playing "the Tottenham way" ?
I know what you’re saying, I agree if Conte goes, Kane would soon follow.

However, IF Conte needs to be backed with the same players that City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juve, Real Madrid, United want to buy, we simply can’t compete financially with those clubs. We may have to go down the route of good scouting and buying players like Gvardiol before the big boys notice them.
Alternatively, Levy simply says fuck it and goes for broke, spends beyond our limits to maybe win something once before accepting years of crap afterwards.
