We're in a pickle now, because it would be madness to back Conte heavily in January without him commiting to us long term. But if he's unwilling to do that, we're better off parting ways sooner rather than later, because this is unbearable to watch, and it's been like that all season.

Conte's bargaining chip IS the extension, he doesn't have another so I'm not surprised he is using it and if anything it shows he is committed to the club by fighting to get the tools he needs. He would hardly do that and then leave in the summer.

I am almost certain he extends once backed sufficiently in January.

Conte wanted adama traore, thank god he didn’t get him. Who more than spence that we signed is a club singning? Is lenglet a club singning?

Conte didn't want Adama AFAIK, he wanted Zaniolo.

Lenglet was a desperate loan signing, not the Bastoni/Skriniar level we needed.

Spence was a club signing.

Conte had alternatives he wanted but as Trix said the club didn't go out to get them, they wanted more club signings that didn't materialize.

Backing the manager isn't buying the players Levy wants, it's buying the players Conte wants.
Its as simple as this really.

Even Inter 'fucking apparently broke' Milan spent huge on areas where Conte required players (Lukaku, Hakimi) and look what that resulted in.

Conte obviously left cause their board wanted to sell those players and bring in cheaper ones due to financial issues but Tottenham would not face those issues if they backed Conte in a similar way.

A key CB and RWB are pivotal to success and Conte's system, so get the ones HE requires not compromises

Exactly.

2-3 more of the required quality and our squad looks a whole lot better.

Now we're talking.

:banghead:

It depends doesn't it.

If it's players like Porro, Hincapie etc and Conte WANTS them, that's fine. Similar to Bentancur and Kulusevski who were not exactly huge names.

But if it's players like Spence who need development and Conte doesn't want them, then we're fucked.

It amazes me that people expect a change in coach to be a brighter future.

EVERY single coach we've had has at some point had an issue with the way Levy works.

AVB complained that Levy brought in a load is players he didn't want and ignored players he wanted.

Poch (and his body language) complained that the club needed to behave like a big club and go up a level with players, start to replace quality with quality instead of punts.

Jose couldn't believe he was fired on the eve of a final and made a dig at Levy.

I don't see how people can continue to back Levy. He's proven time and time again to be a huge hindrance on coach's ability to get us over the line.

The coach he had the best relationship with (the perfect coach for him) even got pissed off eventually.

There's no other club that has had that many coaches leaving feeling frustrated, bemused or angry.

Absolutely no-one should be wanting Levy to still be in charge of any footballing decisions.

The club needs new ideas, a new direction and new energy

i don’t get some of you…

Conte has from day one slaughtered most of the squad, with not good enough in the media- and always asking for more signings.

it’s SHIT man-mangement.

take this conversation directly with levy.

How the hell is he expecting a tune out of the same squad he continues to disrespect in interviews?

I was all in the Conte train. Made bet’s with my friends that Spurs would compete for the title this year.

but it’s clear as day- that Conte don’t fit with Spurs- and I’m personally sick of his excuses.

play the same shit system, that even my grandmother can see is not working. (She’s by the way dead.)

top it today in his post match presser that he is satisfied with the players and their job today.

levy is also at fault, but my god- everyone expected better from him.

shit, shit football - and to stubborn to change.
Conte needs to go.
Then what? See you here again in 18 months for more of the same?

Pretty sure he wanted him as wingback in the beginning but could absoulutely be wrong and if so im sorry. I just want the best for the club and to enjoy watching us. And i just don’t see it with conte. I don’t know what to think anymore. Im heartbroken ?

The board, Conte & Paratici all need to be on the same page. Tell Conte the budget for Jan & the summer if he’s happy with it he commits to the club by signing a new contract and then works with Paratici on improving the squad with Conte getting final say on whether we sign a player or not. If he’s not happy with the budget it’d best best for all if Conte left now

We’ve got a big opportunity to turn around the season with Arsenal at home and City away consecutively. Two of the big games we have a decent habit of winning, and which we won last season.

If we can just get our act together there is plenty left of the season to play.

We need a big signing in the first week of the transfer window to set the tone imo. Get whoever it is in before those two big games.

Defence seems most important to me.

With that I think Conte can turn it round

You'd have thought Conte and levy would have agreed a budget or clear targets to try and sign already. So Conte would be sat tight now seeing if paratici can sort out signings.

If Conte doesn't have an agreed approach then it's shoddy from the clubs hierarchy. It's not like Jan transfer window is a shock to the club.

There has been some good posts and debate on here tonight. Those people that have shared balanced view points are probably closest to the truth - if there can be one.

I’d like to watch some enjoyable football first now as a non negotiable. That’s why we support spurs right? Whatever is the quickest route to that will get my vote. 3 managers in and the experiment in compromising on this for a winning / pragmatic style seems to be nearing its natural conclusion!

100% agree with this. Rather he made decision now, knowing we have someone in wings, atleast temp ( Poch ), so we have someone that atleast plays the likes of Spence

Did he offer any alternatives in case he didn't get the one he wanted?
Yes, but don't forget they have to fit Danny's criteria so they were chalked off instantly as contracts to high. We could have got more in the Summer but needed to shift the big earners off the books and no one would pay for them.

"When you talk about Spurs, everyone says you have an amazing house but you need to put in the furniture.

If you want to have a lovely house you need better furniture. It depends if you are going to spend money."

Think this was 3 years ago. Same as it ever was.

:banghead:

If true then why in holy hell did you appoint a manager in Antonio Conte?!?

All roads lead back to fundamentally bad decision making from Levy and his lickspittle cronies on the board and I feel the majority have had a right fucking guts-full
