We got a bit of a glimpse into the life of a big club where you could dream of having some success. Nice while it lasted but time to go back to hoping we make Europe every year.

Rumours, and they are only rumours is that he will walk this week if not given assurances.

My opinion is that Levy has his cheap out so will just let it happen.
Fuck Spurs they will never change.. Shipwreck of a club.

We only sing his name when we are winning. Because there is nothing else to sing about other than results. And when we don’t get those…

He was never a good fit. And that’s worrying because it would benefit Spurs fans if he was. We can’t have winning managers. It’s not allowed. Even when Poch was getting close he was sabotaged. Last winning manager didn’t last long either. Keep us on the brink, that’ll keep us paying up. But never achieve success, because then you have to invest to build on it.

With what Conte is saying in the press it’s either he knows he’s being backed or he knows he’s going.
He’s not holding back at all.

This fucking club.

Someone needs to remove him from the football side. He must have such a bad reputation that I'd be surprised, Poch aside, if anyone would want the job while he's pulling the strings.

Conte walking is an impossible spin job for enic/levy.
They sack him they’ll say it’s because of results. He leaves in the summer they probably put out it was for family reasons.

If he walks next week there has to be no coming back for levy, everyone knows he’ll be walking because lack of funds, and that will surely turn the ones on the edge, over the edge.

Spence was a club signing.

Conte had alternatives he wanted but as Trix said the club didn't go out to get them, they wanted more club signings that didn't materialize.

Backing the manager isn't buying the players Levy wants, it's buying the players Conte wants.

Modric and Bale were club signings.

The way I see it is that there's an incompatability between the players we have and the formation Conte wants to play. Either we need wholesale changes or we need a new formation to suit the players we have. That probably means a new manager as it's too costly to change the whole squad.

Ironically Poch could probably get a better tune out of the players we have. Conte has more chance attracting big names (and keeping Kane I'd say) but it's looking like we'll keep the players and let the manage take the fall yet again.

I'm expecting Conte to walk, Poch to come in, start playing a formation suited to who we have, finish 6th, Kane to break Greaves record and leave in the summer, "painful rebuild" for a year or two, when THAT all goes wrong, Levy to get ousted by Viv.
And after all that, not a single bloody trophy to boot. :(

Show me Aston Villas bazooka.
Why don’t people understand this is more than just about today’s game? I get beating villa at home is something that the team/manager should be doing, but this is about the grand scheme of things and competing with the other top teams. Everton got a result at city, forest held Chelsea, this villa team spanked United a few weeks ago, Liverpool have had quite a few “shock” defeats this season, even arsenal dropped points at Southampton. The nature of football is any team no matter where they are relative to their opponent can beat anyone. The point is these “shock” results aren’t sustainable over the longer period, just like our lack of backing the manager/spending means us competing at the very top isn’t currently sustainable versus the other top teams. Now I’m not saying it’s impossible (see Leicester), and if we’re talking exclusively about today’s game then yeah sure Conte’s excuses are pretty flimsy, but clearly the point Conte is making is about the larger picture. And I’m glad he is because this ownership needs to be exposed and see the fucking light. Whether it’s Conte or someone else, a manager has to be backed and their vision followed to a T. And under this ownership every single manager eventually runs into issues as the unequivocal backing isn’t there. And that must end immediately, whoever is in charge.

Ultimately it's too costly and risky to invest the cash to win things. The monetary returns aren't worth it so levy won't, he just wants us in CL as that will keep good revenue coming in and fans relatively placid. When so many other teams are spending huge sums it makes it even less likely that throwing money at it will mean success so in a perverse way the others spending so much money makes it less likely Levy will

He has been honest from the beginning about this taking several windows. His post match comments were measured and accurate. I would be surprised if Levy embarrasses himself by sacking him at this point.
Levy sacks Conte and I’d be amazed if another manager comes anywhere near us.
Three managers in 38 months, two of which are probably two of the biggest names in management and yet even they can’t move us forward.
If these two managers can’t get a tune out of the club no other manager will.
I’m not one for mid season windows with over inflated prices but if we don’t get some bods in we’ll be left with a squad that will still need updating and replacing when a new appointment is made after Conte walks or is sacked.
Conte and Para have worked together before, let’s just bloody back them and see where we go as I don’t see a more viable alternative.
Daniel son, it’s time to turn your cards over….

Show me Aston Villas bazooka.

£60m on a prem proven striker. We barely play him unless forced to buy injury and when we do, it's out of position.

Conte's too stubborn to work within the confines set by Levy.

(and I think Richy was a superb signing)

I just want to check with the thread dwellers generally that there’s acknowledgment that Conte is not entirely blameless in this?
