Then never got time to use the players as Levy was able to sign his love, Mourinho
Let’s not rewrite history too much. Poch had been struggling for a year and things were pretty bad, as much from his side. Those press conferences got pretty moody and toxic. I didn’t want him to go, but it certainly wasn’t that “things were going swimmingly and suddenly Mou was available“.

Not sure what you mean. We are spending more than we did in the stadium building days.
We are, but then so is every other team as well and I don't just mean the big clubs. The wage budget has increased but is still relatively low, and we are still haggling over every penny. Nothing much has changed in all honesty.

Yep totally agree. And that’s my point. If we are saying POCH was set up to fail specifically, that poster must be referring to those stadium windows where we didn’t spend at all - and that is certainly different now, it has been different for years! That was the only event that was different for POCH than for any other manager. And that won’t happen again, so Poch will get the same ‘backing’ as anyone.

cant believe we even have this thread....don't you idiots get it, it doesn't matter who the manager is as long as Levy is around and keeps leading us down that same well trodden path!

Absolutely. I remember saying at the time that I didn't want Poch to go, I wanted him to change. Feels much the same right now with Conte in that he keeps on and on with the same outdated setup that fails repeatedly. Poch did exactly the same with the dreaded diamond formation. There are rumblings that the players aren't happy playing this way now under Conte, just the same as it was with Poch. If Conte would just give an inch it could be so much better, but when he tried 352 he only gave it 5 minutes and then jacked it in, whereas he's been persisting with 343 for months.

As stated i think we need to actually commit to Conte before we move on. I just feel if we did move on we would just continue the never ending cycle.

But just for a moment of daydreaming, and i know this video is a few years old, id just love to see us play like this instead of the counter, defensive, negative style of play that we have become in the last few years.

you’re right (not necessary to call people idiots by the way). However, we are wasting our time with Conte if the club are not going to change their tune in the marketplace. We might as well bring someone in that will coach youth and work on a shoes string. Conte is (rightly) holding the board hostage, showing that there is a lot of money that needs to be spent to keep us competitive.

ENIC and Conte were always a mismatch. I just hoped that ENIC were planning to change their tune. Doesn’t look to be the case.

So, I only see one inevitable conclusion.

Easy to say he (like Poch) should just give an inch. Let's put it this way, you work for a decent boss. He's ambitious but very clearly wants things done his way:
1. only young players that can be developed & increase in value i.e. no risk to the clubs finances)
2. no experienced plays past 30 as they cost money and club loses that as no resale value and
3. keep wage structure low
let's just mention these for now. When these things can't be achieved then he just replaces you with someone else yet retains the same conditions.

You, as the employee in the example. take all the risk working with these constraints but are expected to:
1. Finish top 4 & compete
2. Play the spurs way - even if you don't quite have the players you need (but you have a great training pitch and stadium with the best cheese room)
3. develop the players so if we need to sell them, we actually make money & can continue to rinse / repeat this cycle

Tell me again why Conte should give an inch? Because he cares? Because it's the right thing to do? Because despite his boss's way (or the highway), he will sleep better at night? It's clear all our managers are taking the risks, trying to do something that, so far, a number of people have failed at (yes, winning a trophy). What risks is the club taking? What risk is DL or ENIC taking? Poch said it most eloquently and accurately, what's the point of a huge new house but all the same old furniture from your old 1 bedroom apartment?

Frankly, if I'm Poch I would never come back until DL & ENIC are gone. Better to remember fondly the good days than come back & certainly tarnish that with a boss that won't support you at all.

Time for the dwarf and his financiers to exit stage left - he's now doing damage to spurs and it will ruin the club for years to come

Certainly some good point here. Although your conclusion may be off as it did seem poch was open to a return only 18 months ago.

We are not going to win anything under the current regime, so I voted with my heart (Poch) as I would rather watch his high tempo pressing style with a young enthusiastic team than the dire crushing style we are currently enduring.
I was happy to take it to win something but we are not going to spend the large amount needed to give Conte his winning squad.

Every man and his dog knows enic are the problem but they ain’t going anywhere so let’s get a manger that plays football the right way and makes us fall in love with the club again and actually enjoy and look forward to a spurs game, it would be poch all day for me.
