I find it funny that we got ourselves to a stage where we could employ elite managers and now we are back to looking for a young up and coming managers for a slow rebuild. It just shows what kind of circus we are running and the ring leader really needs to do one.

I think the root cause of the shit show was not allowing Poch to do the rebuild... he had credit in the bank and had proven he could do it. We would in theory have been three years now into the project. The 'elite' managers were never the right fit for us.

Personally think all roads lead to De Zerbi.

Not sacking Conte indicates they’re after a coach still employed, and I suspect Poch would have been too controversial at board level anyway.

Levy loves a manager who’s getting hype and needs someone who’ll excite the fan base but lacks the risk appetite or knowledge to go for someone like Gallardo and would probably love to poach a manager from another Prem club.

Needs someone who plays exciting footy but with the flexibility to potentially use 3 atb/our wingbacks.

Won’t have considered that De Zerbi might only be doing so well because of Brightons set up because that would involve taking accountability for how shit ours is, which he would never contemplate.

Gallardo looks older than Ange haha.

RDZ for me if not Poch.
De Zerbi plays with 4 at the back. Wonder what that would mean for Porro and Udogie. I might be wrong but I don’t think their rb/lbs are especially attacking? Also surely would mean the end of Dier (which isn’t a bad thing).
Seems to be able to make difficult decisions for the team - dropping Sanchez for Steele no one saw coming.
Plays with a number 10 which would have to be bought.

I still think Conte still sees out the season. They know he wears his heart on his sleeve. He probably told them it was his tactics to try to get a response out of the players. We’ll go on a 10 game winning run and everyone will get on again.

De Zerbi used Gross and March at LB when Estupinan was injured, he won't have a problem with Porro and Udogie.

Maybe it's just me but I have a feeling De Zerbi would flop here.

He's set up for success with the Brighton model already.

We're an absolute car crash of a club atm.

I don't know if it will get better when Conte leaves, at least not short term. But I'm just tired of the negative energy around him.

I hope to God the football improves and would be astonished if it didn't.

I hope Mason gets the last ten matches, switches to a 4-2-3-1 and smashes it , win or lose. Just for a bit of entertainment. While Conte is still here I won't continue to arrange my life around Spurs matches, I'll just read the reports.

I agree, i really feel that he is at the top of our list. I can see the fact he’s doing well in the PL completely sway Levy’s thinking here without taking into consideration the points you mention.

Who would you want out of interest then? Surely all managers would fail here given how we are run.

Bloke would be mad to leave Brighton for us - I wouldn’t and I am a Spurs fan

De Zerbi is my first choice but I don’t think it’s gonna be easy to do. If Brighton get Europe he might be inclined to stay at least another year and unless he’s got a RC I don’t see Brighton letting him go without a fight.

It can’t be that much of a “slow rebuild”. We already have:

Romero
Porro
Udogie
Kulusevski
Bissouma
Bentencur
Sarr
Skipp
Richarlison

…and that’s without Kane and Son.

If rebuilding is genuinely the intention then Gallardo makes the most sense to me, just as Ten Hag would have made sense - they’ve got the experience of doing it multiple times. He’s also be the best placed to handle the departure of Kane if/when that happens.

It could be a summer wait because that is better in terms of coming in and gives him time to improve his English.

I suspect we will turn somewhere else though, but with De Zerbi under contract I don’t think we could have absolute confidence of getting him in the summer - not enough to justify waiting without a plan in place anyway.
