i would suggest it was the preseason being too harsh. We looked dead on our feet in games. Got a feeling he lost quite of the middle ground of the squad then.
The injury list we have had can't go unnoticed either. Bissouma getting a stress fracture was particularly concerning. Players should not really be getting stress fractures if managed correctly.

Whoever we get in, I'd be quite happy if we never see 3ATB ever again in my lifetime as a Tottenham fan. Just sets rigidity and negativity in from the absolute outset imo. 69000% of the time I'd rather see a 4 with someone dropping in when necessary.

Have any of the ITKs actually pin-pointed why we've gone backwards since the end of last season? I vaguely remember trix saying conte was going to work on the tactical side heavily over the summer yet we've regressed.

If its the case of conte micro managing too much then what's to say mason can't come in, play the same tactics but take the shackles odff and finish the season strongly?
you have to look with your own eyes we regressed because we have stopped pressing sides in their own half there has been no trigger to attack the ball and win posession in the opposition half which was what worked for him when he arrived we have bottom six stats for winning the ball back in the opposition half - we can't keep a football under any sort of pressure so the play becomes so slow and risk adverse we are easy to play against - we drop off to defend but have no defensive tactics to speak off there is no cohesion between the midfield and the defence and little between them and the forward line

its a mess of a side and it has been set up so poorly all season

I’m loving SSN.

“Conte is in Italy awaiting levy’s call”

Conte is prob in some bar quaffing back some fine Italian wines whilst Russian hookers try and catch his wig. His vintage fiat 127 is parked badly outside.

Is what I think

10 games is more than 1/4 of the season and it's going to be in Mason's hands? Probably a little bounce after getting rid of Conte but what else does he have to offer? He's 31 with zero experience apart from 6 games after Jose went,we had a bit of fun when Bale finally got some minutes but remember us being absolutely schooled by Bielsa's Leeds after he tried to go toe to toe with them, any comparison with Arteta is ridiculous,Arteta was Pep's number 2 for a good couple of seasons,Mason probably puts the cones out . Would any other premiership club or championship club for that matter consider Ryan Mason for their manager?
He has exactly the same level of experience as Arteta has at Arsenal in terms of years. Less time in the first team but actually more experience in actually setting up teams.

The cone thing is frankly bullshit. He is quite clearly a highly thought of coach. I dont think hes ready but tbh a lot of the scepticism is based on his age.

Yeah we did lose against leeds. We also lost to villa, that happens. His 2 points a game average though was far from bad considering the circumstances, though the opposition wasn't very good.

Like I said, I would sort out a permanent manager, but this idea hed be out of his depth cant deal with this stuff is absolute bullshit. Particularly as everything indicates that he is very highly rated.

For what its worth, lots of teams have found success from within. The PL is incredibly resistant to doing such things and is a massive part in English managers not developing as well as other countries, which are much more willing to take a punt on promise. Obviously I would rather we had a plan in place and it be Poch or Tuchel (my options. I like Enrique but, with this squad, think hed be an absolute disaster).

Mate I don't know. I think a winning team is easier to like and we were far from boring back end of last season.

I genuinely don't know how this ends up. Saturday evening I thought he was gone. Sunday morning he met with Levy and he wasn't going.

I expected the players to pile in on him and some have gotten behind him. I've then(and I know this as fact) heard a prominent figure with Daniels ear has told him to ignore the media and get behind him fully, as this cycle needs to be broken.
fully behind him also means that conte would have to commit to a new contract as well. No more wait and see

No-one should be happy about this.

I don't care if you don't like the football.

Its just another example of how utterly incompetent we are ran as a football club.

Im getting numb to it but this should have been Levy's final footballing decision.
I dont think happy is the right word.
I'm glad I wont be watching Conte ball next season.
I'm not happy-
Conte was appointed in the first place.
He wasn't backed.
The club buying players the manager doesnt want.
The timing of this.
That it appears we haven't already been looking for a replacement.

I want our new manager in now. Top 4 is still a very, very real possibility.
I dont think writing this season off is the way to go.

If Mason manages us until the end of the season, unless he wins every game, the place will be toxic and torn to the ground. Levy is on thin ice here - it only took the substitution of Lucas Moura to turn the stadium absolutely toxic under Nuno. Sacking Conte and replacing him with a rookie is a stupid idea especially if we fall from 4th place.

If I was Mason, I wouldn't touch it either.

Levy needs to have a plan here. And it needs to be a good one. Luis Enrique may appease fans, Poch definitely will. There aren't many other options that won't have the crowd baying for Levy's blood.

Same here just want us to keep the ball and move forward with purpose. Four at the back, a proper CB with covering CB as well!

Next season Udogie and Spence to return with Gil: give the youngsters some freedom, play Danjuma and have a manager who can sort out Richie’s confidence. Also a playmaker behind the striker who can also alternate, get James Maddison (someone like him at least). Trying to see some light at the end of this long ducking tunnel!

Re Mason. Agreed. If it all goes tits up his managerial career will be short lived. At the top level anyway.

Let’s be honest, if Conte wanted to still be Tottenham manager, he would be.

No one forced him to go absolutely mental after the Southampton game, he could have defended Sarr and destroyed the referee instead, but he Chose the high-risk option. That’s not to say it wasn’t well intentioned but he’s clever enough to know the possible consequences.

He put his job on the line because the truth is, he doesn’t really care about it or want it.

another manager comes to us and we break him, like Mourinho sure he will leave and win some trophies, please no Mason even as interim, we need a complete restart from the ground up

Agree with your post but I actually think he knew exactly what he was doing. It wasn't high risk, it was kamikaze stuff.

Had Conte even had a go at the players in the dressing room, I'd give him some credit as a man. Apparently, he didn't - he said nothing and then came out and threw them under the bus. It was cynical, calculated and spineless.

I thought even if Conte went, I'd take my hat off for last season and respect him. Not after Saturday.

Before the appointment of Fabio Paratici our Management list of potential Managers consisted of Attacking Minded Manager. He was allowed to pull the plug on Paulo Fonseca, who was wanted by Daniel Levy and Steve Hitchens.

We then attempted to bring in Antiono Conte, Gennaro Gattuso and finally appointing Nuno Espirito Santo and then sacking him and bringing in Antiono Conte in his place, at the second attempt. What do all these Managers have in common? ah yes, they are all Defensive Minded Managers. The style of the Managers approach to Football we wanted to bring in completely changed with the appointment of Fabio Paratici.

We brought in Antiono Conte because that's who Fabio Paratici wanted to bring in and Daniel Levy trusted his judgement on the thing he was brought in for, Footballing Matters.

There is clear evidence that Fabio Paratici was in control of our Management search and appointments after he was appointed Director of Football, quotes from Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso back this up as does the change of approach in our Management search from Attcking to Defensive Minded Managers and yet again people just want to ignore the facts as it means one less thing to beat Daniel Levy with.

It's more questionable why we brought in Fabio Paratic in the first place and it's even more questionable why Antiono Conte took the job in the first place since he know the history of the Club as his little outburst shows, maybe just as a favor to Fabio Paratici.
we brought in Paratici because in Levy's words, he was a "a tough negotiator".

Levy's thought process probably went as far as realising that Paratici is great at getting good deals.

But not - he's good at implementing a real structure based on a specific system of football, players you develop etc
