All true I’m just playing devils advocate. The problem is that’s exactly what we all thought of Conte (maybe outside of the nice football bit haha) before he came in. Short term-ism only works if your willing to throw cash at it like Chelsea to sustain it.
Our only actual shots at silverware in the last decade came under the reign of a manager who prioritised youth, developed talent and grew a team over several years. We know it works, so let’s do it but this time adding in the extra financial muscle we have. If Brighton can challenge for Europe under this model, no reason we can’t win leagues and trophies doing it with our size as a club.
It’s all about vision and guts though to ride the rough times. Something Levy sadly doesn’t have on the footballing side.
Sounds a lot like Tuchel in Germany. Though tuchel likes an athlete.Trix, my attempt to define what this means in 2023 terms is this: Coach who sets the team up to play attacking football, wants technical players all around the park (not your brute athletes), record of improving and promoting youth, tactically adaptable and willing to work within a certain financial constraints in the transfer market.
If I was appointing a new manager I'd interview their current or former players.
I want a manager that players love, football-wise and life-wise.
Typical jumping on the bandwagon piece i'd assume. Absolute nonsense to think the vast majority of managers wouldn't love the chance to manage us.Who has he referenced as expressing similar concerns? Which managers?
What does it mean, without going back to quotes from the 1960's?
No doubt we could have won it. But the same elite winner oversaw us blow a 2-0 lead to Zagreb and didn't make it past the 5th round of the FA Cup - the previous season we were eliminated to Norwich at home.He sacked a cup winning machine 7 days before a cup final to replace him with a 29 year old with no experience.
Would we have won it? Not sure.
But it goes under the radar as one of the worst footballing decisions I think I've seen from any football chairman.
Jesse Marsch it isOk Ted lasso
Oh I agree 100%. Tuchel is the wrong fit for us.
But I didn't realise his record getting to finals was that good.
You can see why Levy might be swayed.
Even the players SC want gone a.s.a.p. ?If I was appointing a new manager I'd interview their current or former players.

Matt Law (who's been good for Spurs stuff)
Says list is
Enrique
Tuchel
Poch
De Zerbi
Big Ange
Glasner
Frank
Probably in that order
after seeing two constant winners reputations ruined I would have questions myself as much as I think they are frauds without big money backing.Typical jumping on the bandwagon piece i'd assume. Absolute nonsense to think the vast majority of managers wouldn't love the chance to manage us.
On the positive side though, he does have a firm handshake.Tuchel be appointed would be everything wrong with this club in one go. A man who falls out easily with others, play mostly boring pragmatic football or at least did with Chelsea. He is a great manager tactically and I am sure we would get a new manager bounce but we will be back here after he is fired having the same need for a project manager who plays a brand of football that we can stomach long term.
it would show we only care about scraping top 4 at the expense of literally everything else.
This is very interesting and makes me reevaluate my view on Poch coming back somewhat. If we had bought him Mane and De Jong we wouldn’t still be talking about a trophy drought. I always thought Mane was a big miss given he had played for Poch before, cost the same money as Sissoko and we were better than Liverpool at the time.I somewhat agree and disagree . Yeh jansenn was an absoloute stinker and a few others but they were Hitchens and the committees signings as well as pochs . He turned down many good players and bad players so is stubborn In that respect but having nearly had frankie de jong in the summer we didn’t sign anyone in the last few weeks which I’m not sure a lot of you will know to replace dembele that was poch no 1 target and the club didn’t get it done . Mane another one . Grealish there was many good players he wanted . I think the money spent on tanguy and Lo celso has left a sour taste with his talent IQ but it’s not as bad as it seems many good players he wanted and gettable .
First time in I dont know how long where I feel the non-Spurs journos are really putting the pressure on Levy and can see what majority of us have seen for years.
