what is wrong with Conte, Stellini and their team.
Someone was saying they are cowards.

My speculation is that in the Conte days, Stellini was good cop to Conte's bad cop . Seeing Stellini's looong hug with Sonny
in the dressing room after he got the 100 up, I got the feeling the relationship is close, the feeling he was not gonna annoy Son any time soon by subbing or dropping him.

So I speculate he has other close relationships with the senior players and dropping previously in form senior players is hard for him and this is where I agree with the coward comment.

With 5 subs now we simply aren't using this new option and in-form squad players aren't getting a look in even when some 1st teamers who's confidence is so shot, they can't trap the ball, continue .

...and Mason doesn't have great form in this regard, bringing back Winksy and also Dele well on his downward trajectory for the Cup Final, players with whom he had a good relationship rather than currently performing well.

This is my worry about Kompany. Can’t have someone coming in and be mates with certain players, needs to be some distance.

Agreed.
Re Kompany there was a clip I saw a month or two back of him in the dressing room at Burnley absolutely raging at the team....frightening even through the screen .

Purely on the basis of this anecdotal scene, I believe he has fierce intimidation in his locker if required.

I meant in the way he was MOTM then not played again for a long time.
You’re referring to the Leicester match if I remember correctly? Yeah he was really good in that match and deserved more opportunities off the back of that for sure

He was MOTM on the first game of the season v Newcastle then only got 1 x 8 min substitute between then and the last game of the season (v Leicester) where he was also MOTM and didn't get a start until 19th game the next season.

Should be playing instead of Hjojberg..Its an absolute joke

If we want to get a grip of any game soon, he should be playing as well as Hojbjerg and Skipp in a CM3. Midfield pivot is at the root of all of our current problems imo. No passing angles, no cover in front of the CBs, can't press effectively, don't win any second balls, can't support the frontline without leaving bigger holes, can't cover the wide areas if the wingbacks get forward etc.. Won't happen though since Stellini is Conte Lite.

Yeah, I think if we're switching to a back 4 now that Lenglet is out the smart move would be to go to a 4-3-3 rather than a 4-2-3-1.

Think if we shoe-horn in too many attackers we're gonna swing from stodgy and defensive, to way too open and just get thrashed in the next 3 games.

I'd bring Sarr into the midfield to give some extra cover to our v.attacking full-backs and prevent us getting outnumbered in the middle every single game.

Should have been doing it ages ago tbh but Conte and now Stellini are welded to this faulty CM2 strategy. The only times 3 in CM have been tried has been when there's no choice and there was obviously no prep involved when it did happen. I just can't get my head around actually preferring to set up with a numerical disadvantage in the most important area of the pitch. We just about got away with it with peak Dembele and Wanyama, but never since.

I think it can make sense if you can actually pull off Conte's passing patterns and get the ball to the forwards quickly, like we did at the end of last season, but I agree it's been awful since teams have figured us out.

Only options were to adapt/tweak the system, which Conte wasn't willing to do, or have significantly better players that the opposition so the tactical mismatch doesn't matter....and that was never gonna be the case.

Very curious to see how Conte does in his next job as if he's as rigid as he's been at Spurs he'll have a limited shelf life again.

I've always maintained that the only way it works is if you have 2 absolute monsters in there with phenominal all round skill sets. Then you have the problem that it's pretty unlikely you'll have any adequate backup. It's so obvious that we've now been found out and everybody knows what a weakness it is. Not dealing with it has been nothing short of scandalous from Conte and now Stellini.

The treatment of Sarr has been nothing short of disgraceful and says a lot about the malaise we are in. The lad has shown he can perform and the Skipp\PEH midfield has been underwhelming and we have faded in almost all recent games but Sarr still gathers splinters. Absolute waste of a young talent and Conte and now Stellini really have been grossly negligent in their handling of him. flogging two average midfielders relentlessly when you have Sarr, who ultimately will surpass these guys, is beyond stubborn and shouts out stupidity.

I thought he was really good when he came on. He’s a big lad in the middle of the park too. Play him more.
