With Gallagher’s price reportedly >40m from that rejected West Ham bid, we need to let that ship sail and put that money in other positions.

Give this young man a go and let’s see him flourish. There is something about him that we’ve seen as fans and Ange has gushed about here that we have to unleash.
Agree with this. If we have these players they need to be trusted to play or will end up going the way of many a young player we've brought in, spent 1-3 years "developing", only to move on for a small fee and we never saw the best of, or almost any of, them.

We can revisit the situation in January if it's not working out. It's going to be a bit of a transitional season, especially if Kane goes, and we need to lean into that to a certain extent.

Some really good Sarr quotes from Ange today:

Is Pape Matar Sarr in your plans for the season?

Absolutely. What a player. He never stops smiling, what else do you want from a footballer? He’s outstanding and he’s always happy. I’ve seen plenty of outstanding players who are fairly miserable.

He’s a great talent. That part really excited me at the moment that we have a clutch with Destiny, Pappy, Skippy.

We’ve got a talented and very exciting group there. There’s some real growth there for us apart from establishing a team that can make an impact straight away.

What do you like about his game?

He’s very good technically. His mobility as a midfielder, which I think is becoming more and more important in the game, is outstanding. His ability to find space, to break lines with and without the ball is very, very good for a young player and a 20-year-old. Those kinds of things in a midfielder in the modern game are very sought after. These days most managers now realise a lot of times the game becomes a transitional game and you need people who can cover territory and do intelligently and he does that. He’s always in the right spaces, he’s always looking to be aggressive in his approach. Technically he’s very, very good.

It's even better when you watch the press conference and you can see the palpable excitement that Ange has about Pape's potential. He's another player who can play and thrive both the 6 and 8 positions.

Sarr would have been registered with us for 3 seasons by next summer. Saliba for Arsenal counts as homegrown as they still included him as part of their premier league squad even though he was loaned out a few times. Looking at premierleague.com we did the same for Sarr in 2021/2022 season even though he was a Metz. Maybe he will count as homegrown as of next season?

He won't unfortunately. The rule states that you have to be registered in the squad for 3 seasons prior to your 21st Birthday, which means if you sign for a team in the summer window at the age of 18, you have to have born in the first 6 months of the year to qualify as HG (Saliba was) and Sarr was born in September, so technically has only completed just over 2 years.

Also, Arsenal included him in their squad for the seasons he was out on loan, which was a loop hole allowing him to count as HG. Usually players out on loan aren't included in the squad. We didn't do the same with Sarr.

A more optimistic person would say he just needs a bit more training on the long shots...
I think he’s pretty good at them to be honest, nothing wrong with his technique and he certainly gets good power on them. Just needs to time them better (i.e. less often).

I might be wrong - but I think Ange might encourage these shots. Get in a good position take a shot, then go again. I don't think Ange is interested in a goal by a lot of extra passes. I get the sense he wants the players to take more chances, and then try to win the ball back if it misses.

Played against tired and very poor opposition, so it's difficult to know how good he is.

He either needs a good loan or to be guaranteed plenty of minutes with us if he's going to continue developing. Either is fine with me.

Very poor, fair enough. But tired?! He played the first half against an opposition who played 6 days before our game.

With the long shot thing, if you look up his highlights from Metz, he scores some absolute belters. It may just be a case of getting his eye in a bit and playing a good settled amount of minutes and you may start to find that those long shots turn into a nice amount of goals for us. Alongside Maddison it would be great to be a threat from range.

Really, really promising player.

He looks good every time he’s on the pitch though, be that against Milan or the cloggers the other day. The only way I’d loan him would be to a decent PL team, but those spots are few and far between because those sides can raid European teams so easily to buy their own players.

Another positive article by Rob Guest at Football.London on Sarr.

Regurgitating some of Ange's quotes on him but seems to offer the opinion to him it's between Sarr and GLC for the other 8 role for the Brentford match.

Really excited to see him hopefully breakthrough this season.

Bissouma and Sarr are the 2 players I'm most excited about seeing under Ange. I have a feeling Sarr is going to be a star
