All of this formation stuff, especially related to full back/wing back is such bullshit. The positions - full back or wing back - are not that different and you have to be able to defend and attack in both. Its fucking ridiculous that dogshit defending like not looking over your shoulder at the back post is somehow excusable for a "wing back". While not being able to cross your legs is somehow totally ok if your a "full back".
We need a manager that knows how he wants his team to play and a good sense that he can galvanise the team to buy in and play that way to a high level. Not someone who can get the most out of Porro or any other player because he's recently in the door.
Regardless of whether we see a standout or not it's been 4 months in the making. All last week I was hearing down to two. Then this morning there are reservations and not willing to meet certain terms etc etc and we are back to chucking names around the boardroom again. Post Jose was an utter mess legitimately an absolute shitshow. Managers turning us down, us turning our noses up at managers who we then went back to speak to weeks later, then came the Gattusso, Fonseca, Nuno catastrophe.I was truly curious as for me there is no standout appointment illustrating what a hard decision it is.
You seem to be criticising them for not seemingly reaching this point yet, people will yell Poch or Nagelsmann but I don't think either of them are slamdunk appointments for various reasons.
Let us not forget that our so called football expert came up with Gattusso and then Nuno when he was tasked with the job.
I'd fully accept that to be fair.Personally I think there should currently be no manager on our list.
We should be doing everything in our power to bring in the best DOF we possibly can, and then leave him to create a list and decide.
Unfortunately I think this reeks of Levy seeing this as his last chance to be able to run the show before getting a new DOF. So he’s running around having all these meetings with managers because he gets off on being so involved in the football business.
I’m scared that that means we’re going to end up with whoever can talk the biggest game to Levy, and not the actual best manager. David Brent incoming.
Pro tip: Anything with the words 'due diligence' in it is almost certainly straight out of the Hans Christian Andersen playbookSounds less and less like we'll just be going all out for Nagelsmann. I just don't get it.
This club man. Thanks for you insight as always trix.Regardless of whether we see a standout or not it's been 4 months in the making. All last week I was hearing down to two. Now you can blame Fabio all you like but only Gattusso is on him. The mess that preceded that was all Levy and the board, and fuck me was it a mess to sort out. Fabio is gone now and we are looking we are going round the track again only this time it's at a much slower pace.
The exact words from my man this morning were "Nagelsmann was doable. He was keen, but Levy was unsure about what was required in the deal and didn't want to commit".
If only they'd received some prior warning months ago that they may need a new sporting director, eh?The real stumbling block is seemingly not identifying a replacement for Paratici.
is anyone surprised? Lads……It’s Levy!!
we know Levy has no coherent football strategy. Does anyone think that will have changed in the last 2 months.
most likely will be someone “different” to Conte. When he fails it will be someone different again.
these patterns have been plain to see for many years. We might get lucky, as with Poch sometimes when you throw darts blindfolded you do hit a bullseye…the most important changes needed to help the team are what happens in the boardroom this summer
There was a stat I posted a few weeks ago where since Enic has taken over 9-10% of our games have been overseen by interim coaches. At times, it feels like we spend more time looking for a new manager, than we spend actually employing a new manager.
And, given the speed with which we burn through new managers, we ought to spend more time understanding why that is, and less time trying to find the "perfect" fit (which clearly does not exist).
I've tried to tell people this - only to be met with derision. Also all those that have been shouting about how much we've spent over the last few years including the likes of Kulu and Porro, don't be surprised now if all those that we've signed but not yet completed on, are taken out of any upcoming budget.
Levy just can't help himself. Every glimmer of light is expunged by Levy and the board's dithering.Oh and just to top it off I wouldn't rule Mason out as full time boss. I can't see another top manager wanting to have to reintegrate the cast off's and the need to sell before we buy bullshit. I am not picking up on it how people don't understand it. Two half-decent CBs and a GK? Dream on.I've tried to tell people this - only to be met with derision.
Porro and Kulusevski are not yet on the books, and their costs will be added to the transfer budget this summer - before we add a single new player.
