Mate, you never say anything positive - ever.

Don’t care why he’s doing it, he’s still put himself in the firing line, and he’s still one of ours.

You must pay a ton of attention to the things I post to say that I never post anything positive, I’ve always had good things to say when they’re warranted.

I guess when I said let’s level our expectations and let’s not over praise the work being done by Mason last week that wasn’t just some basic realism it was negative too?

You’ve probably seen me post around 5 negative posts out of 3000+ but hey if you want to believe that then by all means believe it I won’t be losing any sleep

Not going into Romero, but why is it fanciful to drop Porro??? For his price tag?
He’s one of our only threats going forward right now. We need him to not only get us up the pitch but get crosses in and cut backs.

He wasn’t at his best today, but Villa are a good side in form. That was the first goal they’ve conceded at Villa park since February. People think Spurs exist in a vacuum they don’t the other team will always have a say in how we perform.

Porro and Romero weren’t the issue today. The issue as has been for most of the season was the lack of any passing ability in midfield or the ability to resist the press. We looked different once Biss came on. So hopefully he can start next week.

Fair enough 👍

I retract and re-phrase:

“I can’t remember ever seeing you post something positive”

That’s perfectly true, I haven’t been positive about the club in a while. I have given Mason credit where it’s due though, I defended Royal to the hilt when most were treating him like absolute dogshit and most of my shit posting in the match threads is just for a laugh which is the usual reaction I get.

Trust me when I say I don’t WANT to be pessimistic but unfortunately I just have little faith things are going to turn around quickly.

First off let me apologise for the GIF it was meant as a joke and probably came off in bad taste, my bad.

Porro and Romero are victims of our squad mentality IMO, and suffer when we’re on the back foot. They had no issues last week when we were playing on the front foot against CP. Porro has a lot to offer going forward and Romero is our best defender even on a bad day.

We definitely need to put another body in midfield, and maybe even consider dropping PEH for Sarr. A 3 of Sarr, Bissouma with Skipp tucked in behind sounds a lot better too me and we have nothing to lose by trying it out next week.

I’m fucking embarrassed by what’s gone on in here (across multiple threads) today.

So many snide little digs and insults thrown at Mason , a man who twice -TWICE - has stepped up to help us out when things went to shit.

Ungrateful, entitled pricks..
It’s not just here, it’s all over the place. It’s in my mind the biggest reason why appointing Mason can’t possibly work - not because he “isn’t ready” but because he absolutely won’t be given time by the fan base.
Whoever our next manager is inherits a huge mess. They will need time and space to clean things up, and that will naturally include taking risks, getting some things wrong and making mistakes. But every time we drop points with Mason there will be a huge number of fans who use it as an excuse to vent at him, and an equal number who just want to use him as a stick to beat the board with. He’d be set up to fail in every possible way.

Oh yes, TBF like I said, there's no need for insults - I hate it with the players and the same with whoever the coach is. I just meant that he's not just doing it out of a sense of charity. I do hope that he gets a chance to enhance his experience - maybe even possibly get a chance to learn more away from the club for a period of time and eventually come back and take the job.

Not going to point the finger at Mason for anything. Young guy doing the best he can in a difficult scenario and learning on the job when it comes to operating at this level. Last few weeks he has come up against Ten Hag, Klopp, Emery etc

Right now just don't feel it's best for him nor the club if he got the job. Things could get pretty ugly next season if things turned pear shaped.

Pear shaped would be an improvement….

Any manager coming in with the expectations to get the current squad firing will be under immense pressure to avoid the sack by Christmas.

Exactly this. He's helping us out but he should never be in line for the top job. We don't have the time to waste on him learning on the job.

Look I don’t want Mason as the next manager. Even if he won every game in charge. He just doesn’t have nearly enough experience leading a team. But for *some* fans to lose patience with him and trying to find anything to discredit him, this is what’s wrong with our fan base at the moment. He’s not gonna turn this group of players low on confidence and hardwired to play passively around into some super aggressive confident group in a month. I had no expectations because he had and has so little time to tweak things.

Whoever the permanent manager is, he’s gonna need time. He’ll probably have a few performances like today or even worse. But as a fan base he must be stuck by and given time to build no matter what. We can’t turn on him if he starts poorly or has a poor run a year or two down the line if he’s shown his competence in the job. He needs all the patience in the world, and it’s why our fan base is generally one I dislike. Because we don’t seem to have any. That’s gotta change.

That’s not our fan base exclusively mate. That’s football fans generally.
Scum fans wanted Arteta out. Chelsea fans were singing for Tuchel and that Russian nonce after about 3 games of Potterball and Boehly.

It’s the society we live in nowadays, people don’t want to wait for anything. Instant gratification is available in so many aspects of life that people expect it in every aspect of life.

Do you think that's how it is and it's redundant to try anything to change that or do you think with some effort we can try on this forum to challenge that instant gratification and hope from our little corner of the world we can have an impact which might seep out to the bigger spurs landscape.

No chance, there’s too many weapons on here.
God I miss that optimistic rating.

Unless we’re blowing teams away with dazzling style the knives will be out sharpish so the new blokes on a hiding to nothing already IMO.

I agree, but I think our fan base is worse than pretty much every other fan base in this aspect. Maybe it’s just me or the fact I’m a part of this fan base so I can’t gauge other teams as well, but just my perspective.

I think it's a % game, the more people attempt to then, people will change to fit in with the rest of the group. I think the bigger challenge is convincing people who are aware to put the effort in as it feels a waste of time. I think I'm on here anyway so I might as well but don't concern myself with whether it works or not.

Oh I saw you edited: I've started to realise that our club actually seems to blow the direction of whichever way the fanbase is yelling in recent years and so I'm starting to think if Spurs are to succeed then the fanbase is going to have to actually be more mindful of it's overreaction or else we're going to never give a manager a chance.

Can't disagree with this. That said, I think the fact that there doesn't even appear to be any sort of plan or vision really doesn't help matters. If we at least had that then, whilst I'm sure you'd still get some people calling for the new manager's head after a few poor results, maybe it wouldn't be quite so many.

Same old, same old. Why can't any of these managers realise that Richarlison is only vaguely decent centrally and in a two, NOT out wide! He's got to be one of the slowest players in the league and he's often collecting the ball and bustling up the pitch while some oppo player jogs up next to him and closes him out. He's a total waste of money imo and we shuld sell him asap and try and get some money back. Meanwhile we've got Danjuma on the bench the whole time who was made for the high line Villa played. Kulu is out of form, over hitting crosses and being totally predictable, but its better him, than playing Porro as some sort of winger instead. Can't stand watching this rubbish atm.

Think we as Spurs fans have waited patiently!
