Can't we sign Mason to a 3 year deal and loan him out to like a Leicester or a team with a chance at Championship Promotion to see if he can get good experience. We can do it with players, let's try doing it with a manager

I think if Ange’s Celtic team hadn’t absolutely bombed in the champions league people might be willing to consider him a bit more because Celtic do play good football, he is loved by the fans, it’s all good stuff, but there are levels to this game, it’s as simple as that. I watched the Celtic vs Madrid game and Celtic came out fast, used the momentum of the crowd and had the better of the first half but second half Madrid made some tactical changes and Celtic barely had a sniff of goal second half (clear cut chances anyway) and Madrid picked them off. For me the only audition Ange can have that holds any weight is his performance in the CL and they failed, pretty miserably. I’ve tried to take the points of the Ange lovers on board but I genuinely cannot get past the fact the SPL is a horrific standard, it’s no exaggeration that 80% of the teams in it would struggle to avoid relegation in league 1, it’s shocking. We just can’t be appointing a manager that’s only proven good performance in that league, it’s really as simple as that, it’s just not good enough.

Enrique in comparison has been appointed as head coach in two of the most prestigious positions in football for a reason, he’s clearly a fucking good coach that’s proven at a far higher level. You can try your hardest but you’re not living in the reality of there being levels to this game if you believe Ange has done anything yet to be put anywhere near Enrique’s level. When there are managers like Enrique and Nagelsmann that both play good football and have the required experience available taking gambles on options like Ange is nothing short of negligent, sorry that’s just how I feel about it
It's Celtic in the Champions League against Real Madrid. What are you expecting? The fact they even were able to carve out any clear cut chances against a side like that (who also beat Liverpool 5-2 at Anfield btw) is testament to the style of play he has brought in.

Also, their results in the group stage this past season were very misleading. With any level of decent finishing they would have at least finished 3rd, and they actually could very well have beat Leipzig on another day. No team in the group stages underperformed xG as much as Celtic. They just didn't have the clinical finishing required across that 6 game sample size, but their football for being a minnow team (personnel/budget-wise) from Scotland was quite impressive.

Don't see how those 6 games can be used against him, they're a classic case of results not telling the story about performance.

Loved seeing this in the comments too from right around the time the video was posted (when the appointment was still under a lot of scrutiny):

Rangers fan here, but an Aussie based one. I keep telling other Rangers supporters this man is no joke. He's hard as nails and won't suffer fools. He laid waste to the A league down here with Brisbane (something like 30 wins in a row), took the Australian team to some great results and turned Marinos in Japan into winners (even with a big language barrier). Neil Lennon is not in Ange's league. You're lucky to have him. Honestly.

Then a reply clarifying it was 36 unbeaten, not 30 wins in a row, and then this gem:

Neil R*9.....hey Neily you were absolutely 100 spot on...even if am honest I wanted eddie howe as boss not big Ange....the guy couldn't have done more for my team even if he had a fookin wand....

So many ignorant and xenophobic comments in here. I was non plussed about Ange, but now I almost want him to get it, so he can make a success of the job and I can requote some of these absolutely embarrassing comments.
Here here. Some absolutely disgrace stuff posted lately

To be honest I don’t care who the new manager is anymore as long as it’s announced by next Wednesday latest so we can just get on with planning for next season there is too much work to do to be messing about

I will happily take finishing 6-8th next season if we have played great football and scored a lot of goals but perhaps dropped points against bus parkers or the other big sides
This isnt aimed at you personally but I will call it out as its spouted a lot on here.

It's rubbish. Fans as a whole will not accept 7th or 8th and neither will the board.

If this happens again the manager will definitely be sacked, and nearly every decent first team player like Kulu, Bentancur, Son, Romero will be demanding to leave next summer.

It's absolute small time. I'm convinced some odd people want us to go back to the late 90s and just be happy to be in the league if we had a couple of flair players in the team and lost games 5-3.

Time to act like a big club FFS.

It’s more than alright to not rate Ange and to want Gallardo but I find the disparity in the reaction between the two genuinely confusing.

People called Ange are put on this earth solely to either run cash-only establishments in EastEnders, or to run travel agencies in the 90s.

And that is that.

So, by your own words the SPL is sub league one but Celtic got the better of Real Madrid for 45 minutes? That being accurate I rate AP even higher now. He coached a style of attacking football that put them on the back foot with players who are not as good as ours. Imagine if he had been our coach when we played Milan? Conte didn't even try to win that tie at any point and we went out 0-1 over two legs with barely a whimper. I am prime and ready for an attacking manager so this bloke is not someone I will rail against.

I want it to be Ange, Potter or Rodgers just so people lose their shit. The OTT reactions to just being linked is funny as fuck.

Our next managerial appointment is crucial. It’s the make-or-break factor in our medium-to-long-term status as a club.

Get it wrong - again - and we’re fucked.

Our handful of decent players will be off. Others will not queue up to replace them. We will languish in mid table at best for a long time to come.

On that basis, it is not OTT to be appalled that our bastard chairman would flirt with the likes of Brendan fucking Rodgers, who has essentially just relegated Leicester.

If anything, I think the reaction to that link thus far has been much too tame.

Honestly if we are considering him I would rather he was straight in post, not going to other places to learn bad habits etc.
Get him in, he obviously has his own ideas and we look much better after just a few weeks of him than we did before.
Reckon he has the players onside, sounds like a proper leader when he speaks too.
