You’re 100% right he is not well suited for the role. I actually do think he got into a lot of shooting positions today and shied away from shooting at times, which is unlike him. I trust Ange to get him into those positions even more, as the 1v1s on the left is the biggest question mark in the squad currently. Also think Maddison being on his side and close to him will hopefully mean more space for him even when we’re in a settled attack and some combinations involving them both might mitigate the need for 1v1 success.
Yeah I actually thought that was encouraging as he did get the ball in the box a fair few times but he seemed to lack that bit of confidence and acceleration to get separation and take on a shot. A confident Son will get goals from those positions, though, so that's good.

Felt like the majority of the time he received the ball there was a sea of bodies ahead of him, though, and he basically would need to beat about 2-3 men and score a worldie to have a chance of scoring.

Think he needs to build up relationships with Udogie and Maddison. If these 3 can ping it about between them, then Sonny will get space and time in shooting positions.

He should look at Soloman's shot that led to Kane scoring his 4th and see that chances will be there for him.

There haș been a lot of discussion about how Kane could best be replaced if Kane leaves. Most of it suggests either relying on Richarlison as the central striker or buying a new striker to replace him . Have we forgotten that Son was a prolific goalscorer 2 seasons ago and he didn’t do that by being stuck out on the left wing ? Kane was dropping deep with Son often the most advanced striker. Now if Kane goes is there any reason that Maddison couldn‘t be the provider for Son ? Anyone who haș forgotten just how good Son can be in that position should watch not only his goals in 21-22 but also his world clas performances in several games against City going back several years. In fact whenever Kane was out injured Șon always stepped up and performed.

So my suggestion is that if Kane goes we bring in a young striker like Orban who can hopefully evolve into the striker we need so that there are 3 options to fill the gap.

Now if Kane stays my belief is that Son can also compete with Kulu for the right wing spot. He is 2 footed and playing ahead of Emerson might work better for him than in front of a more attacking option like Udogie. As we saw last year Son and Perisic did not combine well and in this Pre season Perisic haș been impressive without Son. And clearly Solomon prefers playing on the left. Look back at the wonderful individual goal Son scored From the right against Chelsea a few years back.

Anyway however it works out with Kane i think Son should not be viewed as a left winger and nothing else. He is too good for that. We have 2 world class strikers not just Kane.

i meant to post this in Spurs Chat not sure how to move it there !

Son fits perfectly as winger and as a no9.

He will be fine. He fits Ange system as wide forward, simply because he is one of the best two footed players in the world. He can beat his man and cross or shoot.

Son I look at preseason is just rusty. He is coming of a operation and was late into preseason training. I hope once he gets into peak fitness, we will see the Son of 21/22

These are some of my favourites so far...

"Son makes me smile like an Uncle without even realizing it."

"(son has) Sophisticated international manners"

"Son seems to be the most loved player in the world and can contribute to world peace"

"Coach Xavi is very happy to touch Son like that"

It's all incredibly creepy

I would start solomun for this reason. Give son 30 mins off the bench first couple of games. Get him to get confident against tired legs

I think he needs to focus on doing the job he is set - making the runs in and getting the shots off on goal. He seems to be overthinking it.
A good example is Perisic. You know he hasn't the pace to beat his man and yet he makes the spaces and delivers 9/10 times

Has to be captain. Loyal to a fault.

Hopefully he can recapture his best form and we can still brag about having a world class forward at the club.

The main man now. As he has been in the past when Kane was out or unavailable. It hurts and will continue to hurt but we still have Sonny. Onwards and upwards.

He's too nice to be captain material and form is on the decline. Give it to someone that has more aggression and time left at the club.
