When he did that I closed my eyes and put my head down. All I could think was. 4 game ban …back to the wilderness. Having said that a Luton player got away with worse today, he was up in the air with no control.
Does Cuti not realise that he will destroy our season if he gets sent off again.

I would love to see Big Ange sitting down with Romero, working through scenarios...

“Right Chris - we’re 3 goals up in an impressive performance against another CL chasing team and there’s a 50/50 challenge- what do you do?”

“I weeelll fuckeeeing keeel heeem boss”

“Jesus Christ Chris- you’re dumber than a dingo with two dicks”

😆😆😆

Cannot believe my eyes reading some comments wanting him sold. Yes of course he was silly but it didn’t cost us. As for it’s only a matter of time before he gets sent off again, well so can any player. Sell him and we will massively regret it.

Just back from the game, brilliant performance but I am going to say something that will probably get a few neg reps….If we have any ambitions to challenge for the title on a regular basis then Romero needs replacing. He is just too reckless for this league. Even in the first half when Isak was offside he flew at him and could have easily have been sent off. I like aggression but he just seems to go too far. There, I’ve said it.

Madrid did ok with Ramos.

Don't get me wrong I wish he would tone those challenges down a bit but take out his aggression and he'd be a shadow of the player he is.

I don’t think he does that today on anyone else other than Wilson. He wanted to do him and he almost went too far with it.

lucky boy, but glad he did it to that mouthy prick

“So can any player” what an odd comment, we are literally having this conversation because Romero has been sent off recently and has game in game out produced rash moments and tackles which are very risky in terms of getting a red card, saying so can any player is ridiculous because we are not speaking about other players because take Kulu for example he’s not diving in recklessly week in week out and he hasn’t ever done that his whole time with us, same for Porro, Udogie, Ben Davies, Emerson, Van Der Ven etc.

Romero is a massive liability. I’ve rarely seen any other CB in premier league history who is so consistently running that risk of a red card with their tackling.

Ange needs to have a word.

Romero has just come off a 3 game ban which along with VDV & Maddison injuries has completely wrecked our season , we all questioned if he’d learn from it and tackling like he did today suggests to me he hasn’t and might not ever.

It will continue to cost us so it’s a big deal and needs sorting.

I love Romero but he's a ticking time bomb. I've not quite seen anyone so dirty at Spurs. Maybe at times Thatcher, maybe at times a Michael Brown, maybe even Lamela, but Romero is a whole new level.

He could have had two red cards against Chelsea and that really stitched us up his suspension. Playing Benny Davies Dier/Royal at the back really hurt us. I thought that apologetic celebration the other day, him realising he can't do silly shit anymore.

Lo and behold he does it again. We are so lucky we got away with that one, we would have been in shit street again with a fixture pile up with two makeshift defenders yet again.

I love Romero, I love Ange, but the gaffer needs to have a stern word to him. Be aggressive, but not needlessly reckless.

Such a brilliant player…just a bit brain dead…needless tackle but that’s what he does!

Ridiculous challenge at 3 up. Honestly don't know what you can do with him, he ain't gonna change. Can only hope his defending wins us more games, than his rashness loses them.
Yup, totally agree with that, Redknapp said exactly the same that you can’t coach it out of him, he is who he is and we either accept that’s how it is or we look to ship out.
For me he doesn’t go anywhere.

To be fair this is a very good point, Ramos was sent off 28 times in his career! 2nd most of any player.

He was also absolutely world class one of the best CB’s ever defensively and offensively in the other box.

I suppose the question is do we think Romero is valuable enough to us in a trade off for his continued recklessness and also if so can we seriously up our squad depth at CB to having at least 4 top top CB’s and one good youth prospect as Madrid have also typically had far better and deeper squads than we do and they always go deep in all cup competitions.

it’s a lazy point. Madrid had superstars in most positions. They could have played most games with 9 men and still won. They could afford Ramos no show. We can’t. Otherwise it’s Dier.

4 goals up and opponents are dead already in the game....And then he makes those stupid tackle.

Romero will never learn.

Already said it post Chelsea game - For all his class on ball and defending, he is a heads gone case.

If he can get a Tapsoba, I dont mind selling him in summer.
