A very limited 'boxer' let into a ring with a former heavyweight champion looking for a knockout. Not only farcical but also incredibly dangerous. Sooner or later someone is going to get seriously hurt. Was a full demonstration of why they shouldn’t just let people switch over and fight at an elite level. AJ could have killed him with that punch. Brutal
Hopefully, whichever one of the knobhead brothers that's stepping into the ring with Tyson.A very limited 'boxer' let into a ring with a former heavyweight champion looking for a knockout. Not only farcical but also incredibly dangerous. Sooner or later someone is going to get seriously hurt.
Thing is it is easy to say this now in hindsight but if you watched ngannou’s performance against the so called ‘best boxer in the world’ tyson fury, you would see that ngannou was no chump in that fight and in some ways schooled tyson with great defence and counter punching.A very limited 'boxer' let into a ring with a former heavyweight champion looking for a knockout. He won’t. There are the likes Parker, etc that can fight but can’t bang like AJ. Ngannou will get in with those.Thing is it is easy to say this now in hindsight but if you watched ngannou’s performance against the so called ‘best boxer in the world’ tyson fury, you would see that ngannou was no chump in that fight and in some ways schooled tyson with great defence and counter punching.
But last night AJ was alot more aggressive than a timid tyson, and more importantly AJ had the power. Got to think this is the end of francis’ paydays in boxing, only last alternative is wilder. But imo after last night Francis should go back and truly start his career in the PFL.
Thing is francis isn’t out to prove that he is a boxer, he is there for the big paydays. He made over 30x’s more yesterday than he did for his last UFC fight and he will have some obligations with the PFL who have paid heavily for him. As much as Francis may fare better against a Parker, that won’t generate anywhere near as much as a Wilder fight would imo.He won’t. I think it’s massively dangerous though and shouldn’t happen
We all know Fury is simply full of shit. He's not interested in being a boxer, fighting the best or having respect for the sport. He's a self promoter who is happy to take on an MMA fighter and promote a farce as a real challenge.Thing is it is easy to say this now in hindsight but if you watched ngannou’s performance against the so called ‘best boxer in the world’ tyson fury, you would see that ngannou was no chump in that fight and in some ways schooled tyson with great defence and counter punching.

If he is to fight a boxer of the quality of Parker then he should do what other boxers do and work his way up the ranks. He won’t. There are the likes Parker, etc that can fight but can’t bang like AJ. Ngannou will get in with those.

He should but it’s a money game unfortunately. If he is to fight a boxer of the quality of Parker then he should do what other boxers do and work his way up the ranks.
Do we know how much Ngannou made for last night? He should but it’s a money game unfortunately.
Stand by my view he shouldn’t have even been given an elite licence. It’s going to get someone killed. If he does continue Ngannou wants to avoid Wilder and Zhang imo
A few reports suggest AJ got $50m and Ngannou got $20m.Do we know how much Ngannou made for last night?
Well it’s obvious why they do it, but if they carry on like this, the sport is just so diminished it won’t be worth watching.A few reports suggest AJ got $50m and Ngannou got $20m.
The thing is that Ngannou isn't just some hobo without experience. He was the UFC world heavy weight champion and after the fight with Fury created some really convincing arguments for fighting at this level. I was legitimately worried for AJ before this bout. Unfortunately, has shown that Furyv Ngannou fight was more indicative of Fury than Ngannou.Well it’s obvious why they do it, but if they carry on like this, the sport is just so diminished it won’t be worth watching.
Yes I agree with most of that and it’s a shame that it’s the heavyweights people want to see and they get most of the money. There are fantastic fights at lower weights with true boxers who have worked their way up the hard way.The thing is

But to your point, they are doing it because the sport is already diminished. Fury wasted years trying to dodge AJ and Usyk, AJ won't want to fight Usyk again but we know Fury will never fight AJ. The only other fighter they could bill up was Wilder and he has almost zero boxing skill. So they have to find a way to convince the fans that they are still doing something competitive.
That is a sign of the times within boxing
I've always thought Middleweight has been the most interesting weight class of any combat sport. Heavyweights in any sport always resort to raw power but middleweights have to be powerful, fast and technicalYes I agree with most of that and it’s a shame that it’s the heavyweights people want to see and they get most of the money.
