Not 100% certain but I think in Spain these release clauses are mandatory and they're all sort of "standardised" in that respect. There's also the fact that Bilbao's Basque-only policy severely limits what they can spend in the market so they generally a) don't need the money and b) are very reluctant to sell their best players because it's much harder to replace them. So they'll make sure the deal is as difficult as they can. That's why Chelsea got completely rinsed for Kepa.Just checking because I don't know myself. Triggering release clause means that you definitely pay everything upfront? Not possible to have details in the contract that changes that?
